Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.

Cant speak highly enough. Good bar for music fans. Freindly owner and snacks go great with drinks. Not far from city centre

It is across the Yadoya Hiraiwa where I stayed at. I didn't figured out that it was a bar, until I came home at dark on my third day in Kyoto, and saw the counter, and 3 guests sitting at it. The owner is a musician, that loves Rock music.He has hundreds of records, and Guitars are on the wall.He doesn't speak English, but its enough to order your beer, or whisky.I would say the bar fits about 8 people, so its very small.But if you like rock music, than its a great place.

This is our second time to Mr Tomo bar 2023 when we first land on this very cool bar it is one of our favorite bar in town in Kyoto with the motorcycle.We make it to a point that whenever we visit Kyoto we will stop by at his bar .We met his friend too this time 2025

Amazing small bar in a quiet part of Kyoto, away from the city center. Stumbled upon it on the way home and had a great evening. Fun music and the owner and his friends were such good hosts for the night.

Amazing pub. The owner is super cool japanese guy and definitely has taste of music. You meet local people listen good music and have good drinks with affordable prices. I am so happy I stayed close to this place and I discovered it. I recommend everyone.
