We really enjoyed the tea ceremony.
Our host was absolutely wonderful. Like all the Japanese people we met she was respectful, helpful and graceful. She really showed that she had a deep love of tea - it's history and traditions - and that made the ceremony stand out as different. Since our host cared so much we were able to invest more and get more from the experience - we wanted to learn how to do it properly and not mess it up so as to show the some respect.
She gave us lovely sweets and a little present at the end which was very cute. The setting was lovely too. The little shop downstairs was lovely too!
We would definitely recommend doing it.

What a delightful lady, dedicated to the traditions of the tea ceremony. The explanation was excellent, we were well informed of the process and the history behind the tea ceremony. Well worth the effort to find the shop, really lovely people. Highly recommend a visit.

I brought my friends from the U.S. here to experience Sadō tea culture. It was a great experience for them and they really enjoyed making their own tea with the tea instructor. The tea instructor gave us a really nice experience and she provided us with deep cultural history about Sadō. I would recommend coming here if you really want to experience a rich and deep tea ceremony experience.

Went here with my mom and were very happy that we stumbled across this place. Our host was very friendly and demonstrated really well the beauty of the Japanese tea ceremony. Tea was also very delicious. They even let you choose which bowl you get to use to make your tea 😁10/10 would recommend it to my friends and family visiting Kyoto ❤

My mother and I did the tea ceremony with Miyako after visiting the bamboo forest. She explained the history of the tea ceremony and helped us make matcha tea ourselves. Was a wonderful little stop in our day. She is super friendly. We did get a little confused where it was so make sure you give yourself some time to find it! But she can also help explain it to you over the phone. It is in a little shopping area on the Main Street.

We happened to see the sign out the front of the store and were right in time for the next session. As there were two of us, the price was discounted a little to 2300 yen per person. Our session was just myself and my friend, which made the experience much more personal. The lady who guided us through the tea ceremony spoke English very well, so we were able to understand everything that was happening. She was also very friendly and made it an enjoyable experience! Would definitely recommend!

My wife and I did the traditional green tea ceremony in Nagomi as we wanted to participate in this traditional cultural experience of ancient tea making.
We had a lovely lady that showed us how to prepare and make the green tea, going through each step and explaining the meaning behind each one.
Then it was our turn to put into practice what we had just learnt which was a bit nerve racking but with a gentle guidance we all managed successfully to make and drink our tea which was surprisingly good, the secret was to eat 2 very sweet lollies first.
We throughly enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend to anyone wanting to taste some real Japanese culture.

Dear BendigoVic,
Hello!
Thank you so much for joining us and leaving us the very glad comments!!
I'm so glad to hear your review!!!
We that learn the teaceremony have a tension at that place every time, so, I want the guest to feel the good tension, the weight of water and a sence of unity with the host and the customer.
I hope you have a good time with us.
Thank you again!!
Best wishes,

After we got our kimonos on, we went to Nagomi and the presenter welcomed us. She give an explanation and was ready to answer our questions about Matcha and Japanese tea Ceremony. After that she gave a demonstration then she let us try for ourselves. As a family with teenagers the explanation part may get boring, but the this sweet presenter made it very fun and interesting. She even helped us take pictures. Overall, it was a ONCE IN A LIFE TIME experience. I highly recommend it. Aside of that, their prices are cheaper and the place is very near to the Bamboo Forest

My husband and I participated in the Tea Ceremony at the Arashiyama shop. It was a great experience. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They walk you through the whole experience first, and then you get to view it. Whisking your own tea was great! The history lesson about the tea ceremony was very informative as well. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a traditional experience. Then, you can also purchase some of the stuff at their store! Thank you for this great experience!
