Took the tram up to the top of the mountain over Kobe. It was after 5pm so we were too late for the herb garden tour. The good news is that it was half price. Tram was very nice but the view was nice but not breathtaking. If you have time do it, not at the top of my list.

We discovered the Herb Garden by accident when we approached the information desk at Shin Kobe station and had some time to pass. Our lovely desk assistant suggested it might be a nice thing to see and pointed us in the direction of the ropeway. She really undersold it - the cable car ride up to the gardens at the... More

To reach the garden, you can either walk/hike or take the gondola, which is ¥1,400 (~$16 CAD) round trip plus admission to the herb garden. I definitely recommend spending that extra money to take the gondola because you get a very beautiful view of the Kobe skyline as well as the Nunobiki Falls. The garden itself is very lovely and... Absolutely enoyed the gardens, and spent around 3-4 hours there. We bought a round ticket for 1400yen. Took it up to the top station, and took a nice walk down to the middle station. The were many nice herbs, herb related merchandise, and a beautiful quaint glass house with a foot bath that has a great view of the kobe... More

This herb garden is more than the name of the place suggests. Great for a 4 hour or so visit depending on whether you picnic or have lunch at the cafe or restaurant. While food and drinks are a little more expensive than outside the gardens in the surrounding area of Kobe City there is variety and is of generally... More

At first I just wanted to go up the ropeway so I could walk down to the nunobiki waterfalls. But actually there are so many cool things to do and experience in the herb Garden. Take some time to smell all the different herbs and flowers, especially the lavender !!

We went up after 5pm when the trip is cheaper. The views were good, but the sausage selection and herb bread in the faux Bavarian restaurant was worse than I have tasted in any motorway service station and the presence of herbs in the food was difficult to detect.
