Great place to visit for a spectacular view of the Osaka Area. Get there early before sunset to view the area in day light and wait for sunset. In the winter time, the temperature at the top of the mountain is 10 degrees cooler than city level so layer up. If you drive parking is fairly cheap and convenient.

Its a groups of buildings which consist of restaurants, shops, the Rokkosan observatory for tourist. There is a large charge parking lot and the restaurants have nice views of Kobe city.
We ate there twice - dinner (BBQ beef)and the following day(self-serve cafe) for lunch which is enjoyable. Also shop around for souvenirs and visit the Rokkosan observatory.

Visited Kobe in Sept 2014, as a spur of the moment visit. What an amazing surprise and so glad we did. From the moment we stepped off the train it was a fantastic experience. We caught the cable car up Mount Rokko to the Garden Terrace, and after the amazing views of Kobe Harbour and surrounds decided to have lunch at the top. Having German ancestery it was quite a welcome surprise to see a tent selling all types of German sausage, pretzels and beer. After looking through the gift shop we slowly walked down through the beautiful gardens to the bottom. What a wonderful way to spend a half or full day.

Take the time to stay a little while. the views are breathtaking. The terrace area is clean and has plenty of viewing space and tables to sit and relax.

Stunning views from the terrace.
I would absolutely recommend visiting here in the evening to appreciate the views the most.

I loved this with an amazing view. I enjoyed the cable car to reach the terrace. Warning: the rope way from the Garden Terrace area to Arima is expensive and crowded on Saturday. Spend extra time at the Terrace and avoid Arima.

We decided to drive up to Rokko Garden Terr ace to see the night view of Kobe. We were fortunate to catch the sunset as well.
Walk towards the grill restaurant, there is a about 4 storeys observatory. Great for catching sunset

Night view is wonderful. But weather is cold today. Dont forget to bring with your gloves, hat, scarf and of course down jacket.

One heck of a drive up to the top of Mt Rokko and once there the views are quite breath-taking. There is an observatory, but the place really hits the highs at night, when Kobe turns into a myriad of lights - stunning!
The restaurant serves a good meal, and there is some nice shopping to be had at the couple of stores up there - well worth a visit.
