We walked through the shopping arcade and did a lot of window shopping. There were both western and Japanese stores along with an occasional stall in the middle selling handmade food or craft items.
If you are visiting other larger cities then a stop here would be optional in my opinion.

Many shops, coffee shops, outlets, super on any rainy on any hot day - but great any time. Don’t forget to try every side street. And don’t mix the basement level as well. Walk on down to Motomachi Arcade all the way down to Harborland and walk alongside Vhina Town Nankink machi. It should take you a whole day for a Kobe experience - don’t miss it.

Stretching from Sannomiya Station to Tor Road, the undercover shopping walkway contains a surprising mix of local and international stores, large and small. There's Uniqlo, Zara and other big name shops and boutique small shops. An interesting stroll - but beware, it around 8:00pm in the evening.

A treasure trove of food & shopping. You can get anything from 100yen discount shops to shoes, desserts, cakes, coffee to clothing or even noodles and makeup!
A great place to shop and long long streets. Quite a good place to wander about and spend time shopping & eating.

It's a long shopping street with a lot of shops, selling a wide variety of goods. with some restaurants. It's clean, well looked after and well covered by roofs so you can walk comfortably even when it's raining. But the shops are opened quite late and closed quite early. Some shops are opened at round 11 am and close by 5 pm. So the best time to visit this place is from 11 am - 5 pm.

Don't bring your girlfriend / wife here because they will go crazy with all the shops there. If you do, prepare to bring a trolley bag or something. I went there with my partner and I immediately regret my decision as she bought so many cosmetics stuff and I end up having to carry all the bags for her. Because of that, I'm giving it an average rating.
Anyway, my partner mention that the cosmetics there is cheaper than the ones sold in Namba Osaka so do take note if you're shopping in Kobe/ Osaka.

Maybe I'm easy to please, and I do like shopping (and I am a man) but the Japanese attention to detail is superlative. Every shop you enter gets you a welcome from the assistant and a thank you for visiting when you leave even if you don't buy anything. If you do make a purchase it is beautifully wrapped in a way that makes a westerner weep at the poverty of service we receive in our own country; in my case the UK.

Hi, I would like to know from JR Sannomiya station, which exit should I go to reach Sannomiya Centre Gai Shopping Street? Thanks in advance.
Written March 15, 2018
The closest station would be Sannomiya Station itself. If you have to take a different line in, try to find a station that’s closest to or transits near Sannomiya, as it is a terminal stop.

Hi, Can I use my JR Pass to get to Kobe? How long is the journey by train?
Written August 22, 2017
Yes, JR pass is more convenience to use in JR West. Just stop at Sannomiya Station and there are many things you can explore.
(Sannomiya Street may lesses people than Dotonbori/Osaka), Kobe Beef and walk to the Kobe tower near seaside.

How do I get there using public transportation?
Written November 15, 2016
The shopping strip is easy access by train as well as various buses. It depends on where you are staying as to which transport option. The Kobe-Sannomiya station is a JR station and is 200m north. If you access by subway there is one subway line about 50m north of shopping area with another one accessed just on the north side of Sannomiya but you can access thorugh the Sannomiya complex. Happy to advise which option if you can post where you are staying
