JR Chugoku Bus: I am pleasantly surprised that this is listed as an attraction! The JR Chugoku bus service is a popular, safe, comfortable and cost-effective way of travelling long distance from and around the Chugoku region in Japan. We were based in Hiroshima University. We patronised the JR Chugoku bus service extensively for all our sightseeing trips around the country. Booking buses is a comfortable experience: there is an English language website which makes the job easier, for foreigners. One can use one's credit card to make cash-free transactions. For some routes, one can make a reservation over the phone, and collect one's tickets from convenience stores, or a bus station, on cash payment. We patronised a wide range of long range buses: ones with washrooms. The sleeper ones had three-abreast seating, with extensively reclining seats, reading lights, power ports, slippers, and windows covered with a thick curtain so as not to allow light to disturb one's sleep. We patronised these two aisle-buses extensively. We also patronised the single aisle ones on medium-length journeys: these buses also had a washroom at the back. The regular JR Chugoku city buses did not have washrooms, but were comfortable, cost-effective, and kept to time! And which routes did we patronise the JR Chugoku buses on? On 31 May'18, we took the West Japan JR Expressway bus (New Breeze) night bus from the Hiroshima University (University Hall, Daigaku Kaikan Mae) to the Tokyo Station (Nihombashi Side) [09:26pm-08:05am] {10:49 hours}, and came back on the overnight West Japan JR Expressway bus (New Breeze) again, starting from the Tokyo Station (Yaesu Side) on 03 Jun (Sun), 08:00pm-06:45am {10:45 hrs}. On our Nagoya trip again, on 08 Jun (Fri), we took the West Japan JR Expressway overnight bus (Hiroshima Dream Nagoya 1, bus#1): 09:45pm-07:12am {06:27 hrs} from the Hiroshima Station (Shinkansen side), to the Nagoya Station (Hirokouji Side). On our way back on 10 Jun (Sun), we took the overnight bus in the reverse direction, West Japan JR Expressway bus (Hiroshima Dream Nagoya 1, bus#1): 10:30pm-08:07am {09:37 hrs}. I will highly highly recommend taking this service!

Great framework for figuring out what to visit
Feb 2018 • Friends
It was a great way to get around to each major site, and could give a framework for what to do in Hiroshima. Easy to navigate. My friend left her passport on the bus, and the staff were so helpful in reuniting us to it, very kind.

You can Board with a Japan Rail Pass or JR WEST Rail Pass
Aug 2017 • Family
Took a 1 day day to Hiroshima with my family.

What's good with the 7 day Japan Rail Pass
Is that the bus ride is inclusive .

We hopped on the Hiroshima Sightseeing Loop Bus and alighted at The Atomic Bomb Done.

Worth to visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum..
entrance fee into the museum is 200¥.
We spent a good 3 hours there.

Do remember that there is bus schedule for Hiroshima Sightseeing Loop Bus.

Regretfully we did not get to see other places of interest as we we heading back to Kyoto .

Not a tour bus - just a bus that visits the major sites.
Mar 2016 • Couples
If you board this bus expecting a site seeing tour you will be very disappointed. It is however a very useful means of visiting the main Hiroshima sites and free to use if you hold a JR Pass. Buses run regularly and on time throughout the day and are comfortable and clean. Notifications of major attractions are relayed in both Japanese and English.

Avoid sightseeing loop buses
Mar 2016 • Couples
I use the term loop broadly as the buses are not loops. They stop and make you get off even though you are not at your stop... we also had a bus breakdown. JR rail pass holders can travel on the buses for free but I woud not bother.

Bus that goes round the major sights.
Jul 2015 • Family
Useful way to get round Hiroshima's major sightseeing sites such as Peace Memorial Park, Hiroshima Castle, Shukkeien, Hiroshima Museum of Art, Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art and some bus stops round city streets. Not much English explanation except the names of places. Two routes available, one orange and one green. Bus stops not always obvious and sometimes took ages to find. Convenient as one can hop on and hop off and another advantage is that if one possesses JR Pass, any use is free.
