Rude owner and charges music fee
Dec 2019 • Friends
Visited this bar with my fiancé last weekend, both of us are music lovers and we were excited to have a couple of drinks in the early evening. On arrival the owner was rude and informed us he’d be charging 200¥ as a music fee. We accepted on the premise we’d be listening to a couple of decent tracks, however we did not expect to be subjected to the 2012 John Legend Christmas album in full (the cost of which, on amazon, is 12¥, or at least it should be).
Asking him if he would be happy to play anything else, he refused and asked us to leave. Safe to say the 1200¥ G&T didn’t really make up for it.

Would avoid if you like music...

Great bar, really friendly and good martinis. It was a weeknight so not many people, but that was fine the owner span discs just for us - an amazing collection of 70s soul, he really knows his music (we kept looking the tracks up) I think he was having as much fun as we were, we didn’t want to leave. This guy should run a radio station or club. Definite highlight of Hiroshima.

Great Music!

Best bar we went in Hiroshima, great music, friendly host and tap beer. We went on weekday so there were very few people but looks like party would be on at weekends!

Great Music, friendly Hosts and nice drinks

We spent about 2 hours here, the place is small and hidden as most here. The Host and his wife where hospital and gave us some nice hints for our visit to Tokyo. Unfortunatly we were the only guest, but on the other hand it was early in the evening still.

It took us a little while to get it, but then we did....

It's one of those things where someone mentions a name of a bar and you decide to check it out that same night. On a quiet early Thursday we went a little out of our way to find this bar. Like many places in Japan, it's a place you need to seek out, it's hidden away, behind a door. When we arrived the owner was literally opening the door for the first time that evening. We sat down and, to be honest, felt a little awkward as the owner went about his business and didn't seem to totally appreciate us being there. We ordered a couple of drinks and decided to stay for a little while anyway. The owner is seriously passionate about his music. As soon as he had done a little housekeeping, he got on the decks and started play track after track for us. As each track was being played he displayed the album cover on the wall. In our heads everything clicked. It's a great little find. I don't know what it's like when it's busy, but when it's quiet, it's a fantastic chilled out spot to enjoy good music.

My husband and I came here on our honeymoon in July 2007 and were warmly welcomed by the owner. He was very keen to show us his Mowtown collection and tell us of his passion for Stevie Wonder. Once he heard I was an English teacher, he said I was his student for the night. Later he informed us of the local specialty, okonomiaki. The following evening we found a place to try some and were not disappointed.
