The museum is located next to a park so it's a good place to stay for a leisure morning or afternoon. It is quite close to the train station; I took a local bus and walked through the Hijiyama Sky Walk to arrive at the museum and then left the place using the Sightseeing Loop bus back to the train... Hiroshima MOCA is a good example of Japanese Post-Modern architecture at its boldest. The museum had an excellent special exhibition and we enjoyed the permanent collection as well. It was good to see a Henry Moore sculpture on the grounds in front of the skyline view. Conveniently located on the tourist bus loop.

And ended up walking here anyway..Japanese people are helpful when you ask them for directions..Ended up walking up the winding path in this park and wondered if I was going to make it..When I finally did..I went through the coffee shop and was directed to the ticket booth..The combo ticket seemed pricey and I wanted to go to one last... I came on a very rainy day, so I didn't have the chance to enjoy the area surrounding the museum, but I would imagine on a nice day it's a very pleasant walk. It's a little out of the way to get here, but if you do, go for the full price ticket of 1,030 yen and see the entire... More

We took the orange loop bus here and had a sightseeing tour of Hiroshima on the way. The view from here is wonderful, it is worth coming here for that alone. There is spectacular view over Hiroshima and we were lucky to be here during the Cherry Bloosom which made it even more beautiful. The sculptures in the park were... More

Absolutely lovely! Relatively small collection in the permanent exhibits but each piece was compelling and interesting in its own right - you can easily lose yourself for hours just taking it in. Special exhibits are equally well executed. D Q Le's reflections on the Vietnam war were raw and honest - an incredibly emotive experience. Staff are lovely and English... More

The grand building promises many big and large collections of art, but we were greatly disappointed. The main exhibit, 370 per person, was only one gallery. We could have bought a ticket including the special exhibit, something about vietnam this time, which would be total price of 1030 yen. Gardens around museum were nice, with the sculptures dotted around it.... More

For a different take on Hiroshima this museum gives a taste of contemporary art. The cafe holds several good art books to browse through as you wait for a snack. The spaces are well organised and combine works that otherwise would not be shown. Allow plenty of time as you find yourself sitting to view video installations that are stimulating.... More

Visit this museum and experience the city's history on a whole different level. Some of the pieces here are simply incredible and viscerally stimulating. My only regret is that I didn't have more time to spend before the museum closed.

I did not actually go into the museum but you get a great view of the city and it is quiet with lovely trees. Check out the nearby Sky Walk which is a set of external escalators that go up the hill (free). I caught the hop on hop off circle bus to get to the park.
