We took a 12 day package tour as a family of 4, going through: Sapporo, Lake Shikotsu, Otaru, Shiraoi, Noboribetsu, Lake Toya and Mt Usu, Kuromatsunai, Hakodate, and Onuma.
Hokkaido Treasure Island Travel worked so well with us to craft every day on the itinerary and inform us on all the paperwork for a smooth entry to Japan (on short notice, too!) and when we got to experience it, it was perfectly paced and full of wonderful activities.
A highlight was the day spent visiting local farms in Kuromatsunai, we met lovely people passionate about their home, ate amazing fresh produce, and relaxed with lunch by the forest and fishing in the river. The trip HTIT planned as a whole was like this — we never felt rushed to go to the next destination, and we genuinely got to learn about the people, forests, lakes, and mountains.
HTIT organised amazing local guides for us, so another highlight was Hakodate. It’s a fascinating city with an old world feel, and our guide Sara took us to marvellous corners of it, also speedily planning new activities for us when rainy weather cancelled our outdoor activities.
We can’t thank Jordan from Hokkaido Treasure Island Travel enough — she went above and beyond personally welcoming us with lunch upon our arrival, joining us on a hiking trail herself when a local guide wasn’t available, and meeting us again at the end of our trip with a cake for my early birthday!
Hokkaido is an amazing place in the world and we absolutely recommend Hokkaido Treasure Island Travel for tailoring the best visit you could experience.
