The Hokkaido Shrine was exceedingly charming all covered in snow. It was also a great first religious-cultural experience for the young teenaged boy in our group, as an introduction to Shintoism. It's an attraction definitely worth the effort to visit. The shrine is a short...More

It's a very beautiful park and shrine located within walking distance of the Maruyama-koen station on the Tozai (orange) line. It's worth a visit to stroll through the very pretty Maruyama park, watch the squirrels and if you like, to purchase an Ema to write...More

This is the main and largest shrine in Hokkaido located in a tranquil, woodsy area in Sapporo. Beautiful buildings and surroundings. There are approximately 1500 cherry trees so it is worth visiting during their blooming season in May, which is later than other southern places...More

Nice place with an easy way to get there: take the orange subway line to the Maruyama-koen station, take the #2 exit and go straight. :) On your way, you'll fing lots of nice, smaller shrines and the Maruyama Zoo close by.
