we visited Odori Park late September 2015. The different offerings of food at the tents was titillating and exciting. I loved watching the local people celebrating the festivals, they were exhuberant and it was catching. The weather was pleasant. Just a note, the island of Honshu is hot and really humid during the summer, but Hokkaido during the summer is... More

Nice park tucked in the urban jungle of Sapporo. Quite nice on a sunny day as you'll see a few vendors out and people walking around and sitting on the bench. On gloomy days however, it's quite empty and dead. There's more life in the surrounding city than in the park during times like those.

This is the main park of the city. It spans into several ten blocks from the TV tower to the museum at the other end. There are several fountains and benches to sit around. Several special event of the city take place here such as the famous Snow Festival and the Sapporo Beer Festival.

This place doesn't stand out as a park but more as a public space in which people socialise. When I visited there was a beer festival and there was a joyful atmosphere that made my visit a pleasant one, specially since I had not seen Japanese people enjoying themselves in that manner since I arrived in the country two weeks... We strolled around Odori Park. It is a nice park in Sapporo city and in winter they have a snow festival with snow sculptures, food stalls and an ice skating rink. You can spend an afternoon here. It is family friendly and my daughter enjoyed playing in the snow in Odori Park.
