The largest place to see the snow festival. It's out of town. Take the subway that ends in sakaemachi. Follow the instructions to go yo snow festival. They have shuttle for 100yen/person. Don't even think about walk from station to tsudome. It's freezing.

Cannot thank the facility and volunteers enough for putting such big smiles on my kids' faces this weekend. They tried the ice slides, bamboo skiing, inner tube & other sledding and also enjoyed making snow castles themselves. We ventured into the Tsudome for a little break out of the snow to play in a bounce house and get a snack and drink before we returned to the snow. I was amazed at the patience and joy the volunteers had in participating with the kids throughout the facility's activities that were all free outside except the snowmobile raft pull(only 500 yen at that). What a bargain for just the price of a shuttle bus (300 yen)from Odori. So glad we went and highly recommend for families with elementary school aged kids especially. Some neat snow sculptures and even a little train ride available too.

I stayed near Sapporo station so I walked to the station & took the Sapporo Ekamie-Dori Underground walkway. It's going to be a few minutes walking towards Odori. Then when you see Exit 13 turn left into a corridor & walk up the stairs. As soon as you exit make a U-ey turn & you will see a bus stop, a red & white bus is the one to take to Tsudome. You can use the Kitaca card & you will be charged the bus fee. Or if you don't have card then coins.
The bus takes about 20 mins to the site. Upon arrival, it was nice & snowing. Took the tube slide. This place is good for parents toddlers & children.

Visited Tsudome during the Snow Festival.
Took the shuttle bus from Sapporo station to Tsudome, which is one of the sites of the Snow Festival. This site is definitely aimed more at children than adults. The wait for the snow slide was approximately 2.5 hours. There were huge lines for everything, including the toilet.
Fine place to visit if you have young children and don't mind waiting in line for hours for them to go on rides.
There were some small snow sculptures and little snowmen on display, but head to Odori Park if you're only going for the sculptures.

After walking through the buildng sized ice sculptures in town, we decided to take the train out to Tsudome. It was well worth the trip!! They had huge snow slides for tubing, snow everywhere to run and play in, warmth and food inside the dome, and the best part was the snow mobile pulling you in a raft around a snow trail.

During Yukimatsuri, the Tsudomu Area is the best for children. There are countless activities, such as tube luging, sledding, ice slides, zip lining, snow rafting,...
For a small break, you can enter the dome and have lunch. Inside the dome, there are food booths and some playing activities.
Most activities are for free. Selected ones, such as zip lining, snow rafting and most indoor activities are available for a fee.

This attraction is free but you pay only for the bus ride. We took ours at the Odori Bisse stop. When you get to the park, it's all white. I think the activities are better suited for small kids but we tried the snow tube slide and the snow raft ride and it was still fun.
Ok to bring your own food or you can buy from the kiosks.

I visited the Sapporo Community Dome during the snow festival and it was such a big venue area, this site is mainly directed towards children and have a vast array of activities which will keep them busy. Outside the dome it had a couple more sculptures which were beautiful including some which was made by some children who I presumed came from the area. They also had activities made for older children and adults, such as: snow slides and riding on a raft behind a snow mobile. I would totally suggest visiting especially if you had kids, although it may not appeal to the older audiences.

Great fun for both adults and kids! It wasn’t too crowded as we came on a weekday, and just a few minutes wait for each slide/ride. Very safe for young kids, many helpers around. Well organized. Dress warmly, especially kids. No warm clothing for sale or rent at the venue. If it’s too cold outside, just head indoors and there are many games for the kids in the dome (coupons needed). A few food stalls around too.

The resort is about a 30 min bus ride from Sapporo station, the buses don't seem to leave until they are full despite saying they leave every 15 minutes on Sundays.
There is quite a lot to do for children above the age of 3, although less choice for younger kids.
There are things to do both outside and in, as a huge dome exists that has kids attractions as well as hog food options.
Indoor 'rides' are all inflatable, such as a big slide, and bouncies.
