We were only the 2 of us (due to Covid limited trips) so we felt the experience as being really personal and intimate. Beautiful scenery around Lake Shikotsu enhanced by the explanations of the guide. Bikes were in a very well condition. Being an all day tour, we had plenty of time at each stop to enjoy all there was to see and do (we decided the "more adventurer" option, but the guide will adapt depending on your personal expectations). The guide has a good English understanding so the communication was easy. Overall, a really nice and memorable experience. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your review. I thought we couldn't tour Lake Shikotsu in this year. However, thanks for your join and this comments, I would like to continue for a while as a private tour for people living in Hokkaido and Japan . many many thanks, Jun

I cant say enough good things about this mountain bike tour with Jun! He led us through about 8 miles of various trails and some roads. During the fall season, the tree leaves have beautiful colors and the weather is nice and cool to keep us from feeling too warm during the ride. The route can be adjusted to accommodate different levels of fitness, but you'll definitely have more opportunity to see gorgeous sights by riding a longer distance around the lake. My friend and I were fortunate enough to be the only ones who booked this particular day, so we basically had a private tour. One of the highlights of the experience was when we got to a certain trail. Jun pulled out bells and put them on our bikes so that we would make our presence known so we dont spook any potential wildlife suddenly. On that trail we not only were entertained with interesting terrain to ride the bikes on, but also managed to see wild deer on several occasions. After the ride, there is a nearby visitor center and food area that has several restaurants and food stalls. There's a large variety of dishes available such as ramen, rice bowls, tempura, salmon from Lake Shikotsu, and even venison! Just about any craving a hungry person with sore leg muscles would have. Some of the food stalls also sell dessert items if you're looking for something rewarding to replace the calories from the ride. Overall, this experience is extremely worth it! Jun was kind enough to meet with us at Sapporo station with his van, and drove us to and from Lake Shikotsu. Considering the good quality bikes provided, transportation to and from the lake, and the beautiful sights we got to see, I'd say this is a must for anyone who likes riding bikes and wants to experience the beauty of Japan away from the big cities. Thanks so much! It was a great experience. Looking forward to coming again during the springtime!

Jun was our guide for the day and was a cool guy. He took us through a few nice and easy mountains paths to a river in the valley, then from there round the town of Jozankei. We were lucky that Tonga were training training as Jun took a side tour to show us rugby fans where they were (little bonus). It was easy going and built up my appetite for the curry at the Onsen at the end. Good start to my holiday :) (you may need a little bit of fitness to do this as there is a slight up and downhill), but Jun will go at your pace.

Today was a beautiful sunshiny day of biking. I was provided w a good geared bike, helmet and gloves. The terrain was varied from pavement to soft gravel to mountain pine needle road. The area is beautiful and there are lots of cicadas but didn’t see any wildlife. The park was very quiet which was great for photography. We stopped to take pictures, have a sip of water or a quick self-supplied snack, or for the guide to explain a point of interest. He doesn’t talk much but he is very pleasant, always checking on you, and a good safe cyclist and driver. As a solo female, and the only one on the tour today, I felt completely comfortable and at ease. I could’ve handled something more challenging and longer, but nice relaxing ride. Wonderful day to be outside enjoying the Japanese nature!!

I was fortunate enough to put pleasure before work and had 2 days free before my meeting, to do "Lake Shikotsu" one day and "Nopporo forest" the next. Jun is an excellent and thoughtful guide. The cycling is a relaxing way to contemplate nature. The highlight was seeing an Owl in Nopporo forest.
