Nakajima Park is only three stops frorm downtown Sapporo on the subway. It is a beautiful park. In autumn, the leaves turn idfferent colours art different times, with shades of red, orange and yellow making a colourful display.. As Sapporo is in the far north of Japan, so spring comes later -- the cherry blosoms bloom in April. Najajima Park is a great place to view the cherry blossoms or "sakura" as they are called in Japanese. The park also hosts the Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara and a tribute to the US conductor and music educaor, Leonard Bernstein

We took the streetcar from the bottom on Mt. Moiwa to the park. It was a snowy day, and we felt like we were walking in a winter wonderland - we even sang the song. Since everything was covered in snow it was a little hard to tell where we were, but we enjoyed it anyway.

It was already snowing (earlier than expected) when I visited the park in mid Nov 2019. The Park is quiet, and occasionally you could hear the birds singing. The snow is white and fluffy, pouring lightly onto the path that we walked along. There is a beautiful lake within the Park with lots of colourful trees and flowers surrounding, and well decorated by a few Japanese bridges. I just can't stop shooting many nice photos from different angles & locations within the Park.

We decided to visit this park as it is within walking distance from our hotel. Went there in the morning for a stroll and was pleasantly surprised by the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful scenery with white carpeted snow everywhere. Someone even made a snowman at the park!
There were not many people there so the whole place exudes a sense of wintry serenity. We even saw frozen lakes and ponds for the first time. It was a magical feeling! An unexpected gem to visit if you have time.

We came here and the whole park was white to due to the snow. It was very beautiful. I had an enjoyable stroll in the park and it gave me a ‘magical’ feeling.
By the way, exit 3 of Nakajima Park subway station is located within the park.

We love the winter season, so we took a stroll through this small park. It’s well maintained even in the winter months. There was few people there. More birds than people. The pond appears frozen, but unsafe to walk on it.

This is a wonderful place in winter with the whole park covered in snow. I discovered that you can hire the cross country ski gear for free at the south end of the park. It is enjoyable and fun doing the whole track and it is fun for beginners. The equipment rental is run by the municipal sports centre and is absolutely free and staff are so friendly and helpful.

This park is gorgeous in winter, all covered in snow. At the South end of the park near the sports centre free ski equipment is available, we had a great time trying our hand at cross country skiing.

Hi Jasnakate!
The lake area around Nakajima Park is great for phototaking. In fact, the lake area occupied the central spot of the park, you wouldn't miss it. Around the lake are different varieties of trees: willows, maples etc.
If you come by subway, take Exit 3 which is the nearest exit to Nakajima Park. In any case, the other 2 exits are not far away.
Suggest to come in the early morning or late evening where the park is cooler and where there are fewer tour groups visiting.

Hi everyone,
I am visiting Japan and is currently in Osaka. I am heading to Tokyo tomorrow. I heard about the "red leaf" season in Sapporo and is considering making a quick trip to Sapporo to see this. Could anyone recently visited Sapporo kindly advise me if the tree leaf has turned red yet and where is the best place to see this. I am a tropical country and is very excited seeing this?
Thank you very much for your help.
