I noticed there isn't an English review on this attraction and felt the need to write a good review for this fun filled park. we were there as a family with 2 young kids, age 4 and 6. We came across this place and couldn't find any English reviews, but decided to give it a try because kids are getting bored on our 4 day Sapporo trip.
Satoland is eaily accessible on the subway, then took a taxi to the park. On our way back, we just took a taxi back to the hotel because the kids are so tired after a fun filled day.
It's a farm themed park and it's filled with locals and young children. We didn't see any tourist around however, the information desk was helpful with an English map of the park. The receptionist eve helped us to call a taxi for the return trip. Park is FREE admission, however, there are various activities you can pay at the spot for a few US dollars each.
We enjoyed the Children Interactive Class--butter making. We went to ride the Funny bicycles and the kids had a blast. They are bikes that is decorated into animals, 2 rider bikes, 4 rider bikes, bikes that go sideways etc. We went to pick fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, and blueberries in the farm. Rode on the cho-cho train which goes around the park. Saw farm animals including cows. Kids played the simulation cow milking machine. Had a wonderful lunch at the café which was surprisingly delicious.
There's more to do and you can easily spend a whole day there with young kids. Many locals were there to rent a bike and BBQ.
Highly recommended attraction for family with young kids. Something refreshing for the kids other than accompanying us, the parents, who's gone crazy with ramen eating and shopping.

Tip: Grab hold of the sapporo sightseeing map located at hotels or information areas as it provides instructions on how to get there using the subway and bus. You can either take Chuo Bus 76 from Kita Sanjuyo jo subway station (subway namboku line) or take the same bus from shindo higashi subway station or kanjo dori higashi subway. Travel time is approximately 15 to 20 mins or so and get off at okadama koko bus stop and walk 10mins from there.
Satoland is essentially a farm themed park so things to do there include a petting area for sheep and goats, riding a horse or a horse carriage (for a fee and specific timings), milk area, wooden park playground, lavender hill (depending on season) and a milk pavilion where there are cows for viewing. You can also take a train ride or rent a 4 or 2 wheel bicycle to go around the park.
Families with small kids will love this place as there are many several play areas for the young ones and the older ones can have fun at the wooden playground.
There is also the main Satoland centre where you can sign up for the butter making classes (costs 350 yen per person) at 11 and 2pm on weekdays and 11am, 1 and 3pm on weekends and public holidays. The class is conducted in Japanese and lasts for 30mins, but they have an english board for reference for instructions. There are a number of staff there that can understand basic english so should be fairly comfortable for those who cannot speak Japanese.
For those who are coming by taxi, do take note that Satoland is quite big and has a few entrance areas via the parking lots, and the main gate should be the one where the rent a bicycle corner is. It is also advisable to request for the staff's help to call a cab for pickup if you wish to travel back to your hotel in the Sapporo city area. Estimated fee will be about 3500 yen or so depending on hotel location and traffic location.
Overall, a fun filled place that can fill your time easily between 2 to 4 hours depending on what you want to do. There are a couple of cafes in the main centre and the playground if you wish to grab a bite. Great alternative from the shopping malls and streets in the city area.

It’s certainly meant for families, friends and children. It’s a big place where various activities can take place. People can cycle to get around the place, bbq (we saw people doing that), pet and feed sheep, ride horses, watch cows, play at playground, etc. these are just things we have done or know can be done there without understanding Japanese.
The place is probably meant for more, but our handicap at the language means we cannot fully appreciate what else the place can offer. I think the place was originally designed for Japanese but over the years tourists have also started flocking to it. We will probably see more English signs in future to cater to them.
Traveling there from Sapporo train station is not difficult but also not straightforward. Bus frequency is low and the bus stops are located some distance away.
People with jr passes can make use of their passes to take the jr run buses.

He visited on Thursday, November 8.
Beyond the lake-like entrance with poor drainage
He enters the center but doesn't know what he's doing.
The bottom line is, the center is the only one doing it.
We were helped by the parfait making and the kids' corner, but this kind of damage increases if we don't want to make it easy to understand what we're doing both online and in real life.
Basically, I thought it was a nice, large place.

Good place for couples and great for families with kids. Entrance is free. Love wandering around the park looking at horses, sheep and cows.

Check out the map to decide where to park. There are several restaurants and its a large area. Visit a dairy processing factory, get close to animals (check out the petting and feeding schedule). Need to register in advance for hands on activities.
No entrance fees, fees for rides, activities, food for feeding, etc.

The snow and ice festival was a wonderful experience. Incredible ice sculptures, great street food and warming hot chocolates. Remember to rug up and wear shoes with good traction - the ice underfoot gets very slippery.
You need to be quick the snow festival only runs for one week in February. At the end of the festival the sculptures are destroyed.

A visit to Hokkaido is incomplete without a trip to Sapporo Satoland! We went there without much expectations as there was not much publicity about this place. Me, my wife and my daughter (9 years old) had only planned to spend 2-3 hours initially, but ended up having the time of our lives for the entire day!!
Other than the beautiful scenery, there were so many fun activities to enjoy!
From animal feeding, to cooking classes (butter making), to crop harvesting. My family truly enjoyed all these activities! My daughter specially enjoyed at the bouncy structure and the wooden playground consisting of an obstacle course, slides and a mini flying fox. Most of all,we had fun cycling around the park accompanied by the cool breeze! The single and family seater bicycles are available at a incredibly cheap rate!
There is a cafeteria offering delicious and affordable food and a shop that sells ice-cream and souvenirs in the park itself!
With all these facilities and activities, we could not believe that the admission is free!
The only downside is that the bus that goes to Satoland is quite infrequent (every hourly),so be sure you find out the bus timings beforehand.
