Rent-a-bike in Sapporo and see the details of the city at bike speed. Over 40 ports around downtown, fairly easy registration system and access to comfy bikes for sightseeing. There is a Lock and Security number system if you need to park somewhere with no port - but the ports stretch from Maruyama to the Sake Museum, from Hokkaido University campus to Nakajima Park. Many hotels have ports right outside and front desks have info on how to sign up. 1 Day Pass costs just Y1,080 - and that can be stretched over an afternoon-night-next morning. Warning - the main street from Sapporo Station south to Susukino is busy with cars and trams. Best to choose the side roads. Cycling on the sidewalk/pavement is the norm in Japan and Sapporo has wide spaces.
