Sapporo White Illumination

About
This event, held every year from late November to the middle of the following February, is centered on the illumination decorating Sapporo's Odori Park, Ekimae Dori, and Minami-ichijo Dori. Since it began in 1981, it has become emblematic of the winter season. The scale and contents have been expanded with every year, and since becoming sister cities with Munich, Germany in 2002, an event called "Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo" is also held every year. There are stores not only from Germany, but also Russia, Lithuania, and India, giving the event a rich international flavor. The collaborative song released every year is also a hot topic.

The highlight of the trip
Dec 2019
All visitors come to Sapporo in the winter for this. Day time was just an ordinary park but when the lights turned on at night, it was a different scene with the snow on the ground.

Great picture event
Dec 2019 • Solo
In a park that also hosts a Christmas village this is a must see in December. Snow on the ground and a small crowd make this a nice event.

It was really beautiful.. the bright lights in the middle of the citywalk... makes it really a great reminder that we should be lights to the world, radiate light always to all around us....

Plenty of good food and music and of course the illumination... hoping it would snow on that evening but it did not.

Makes the cold winter slightly warmer
Dec 2017 • Family
Takes place during the cold winter season inside the famous Odori Park. It is white lightings on white snow, so it does gives a bit of a winter wonderland feeling. No need to come specially for this event, but if you are visiting Odori Park, then you cannot miss this.

Very happy with his food and service
Jan 2017 • Family
Our family ordered cheese, garlic and plain naan with butter chicken and beef kimah. Needless to say, it was delicious and highly praised by my parents, aunts and uncles. Not forgetting the lamb and chicken bryani, it was just as finger licking good.

Most importantly, the service was top notch. We made our order, through calling, earlier in the day before reaching Chitose. However, we were running late, unable to collect it on time. Sami, the owner of the restaurant checked on us by contacting the hotel. Just as we checked in, we found Sami looking for us, he then personally drove us to the restaurant to collect the food.

Even though Indian food may not be your cuisine, I highly encourage to visit as Sami is a kind hearted man. I wish him the best in his endeavors in Japan.
