Pretty but not too much to see
Jun 2017
The guide books make it sound a lot cooler than it turned out to be. The street (and surrounding street) is short and tiny and there weren't that many little shops or interesting places to check out. We did this place in half and hour and was done with the Grand Canal area. The canal itself was quite pretty but again after a few pictures not too much else to check out around here. A number of local Chinese restaurants but no coffee house/cafes hat we could find to sit out and relax. Wouldn't put it as a must do unless you like to check off Unesco sights!

What a great find!

The staff at my hotel recommended that I visit this place as it's less touristy and not well known. Turns out this was the best advice - really enjoyed my stroll around this area and wondering through the historic streets. Definitely less touristy and able to better appreciate the historical elements of this street.

Do not miss it !

This place should be on your itinerary when visiting Hangzhou. You can do various activities on quite compact space. Start with boat ride on Grand Canal, take water-bus from WulinMen to GongChenQiao wharf. Walk though ancient GongChenQiao bridge to Qiaoxi street with old houses, pavilions, small temple, little gardens and piers. Then visit various museums: China umbrella museum, China knife, swords and scissors museum, China fans museum with nice expositions and, on other side of river bank on Yunhe square, China Grand Canal Museum. If you get tired have a rest is tea house or restaurant just at river bank and enjoy view of beautiful bridge, old architecture around river or simply observe other tourists.
