If you like culture and local hand crafts, this is the place you should drop by. We took a long and relaxing walk from Song Village after lunch, because the weather was nice and we did not have plans for that afternoon. The view of West Lake along the walk was amazing, and I also found a cute dog seemed lost and very attached to me. Too bad I can not keep it, very well behaved though. Du Jinsheng Former Resident was rebuilt in recent years and open to tourists. The plum tree in the yard was nicely pruned and was blooming with beautiful flowers. It is a nice family home even in today's standards. The interior was very traditional, felt like we have gone back to 100 years ago. There are sets of Du Jinsheng Silk Weaving crafts nicely framed and hung around the house. They are magnificent! No matter the crafts are made in balck/white or coloured; objects, scenic views or characters, the illustration are amazing! Nearly 100 years ago, Du Jinsheng invented this type of this silk weaving skill, and became a well established entrepreneur. One of the crafts you will see among the displays is a "portrait of empress touring in the garden", seems quite famous and won a gold prize in a international exhibition back then. Anyway, have fun! There is a shop in there selling their crafts too. Plenty to choose from and good quality silk, not like those in the flea markets.
