Faxi Temple is a perfect off-the-beaten-track destination for those who want to experience a little Buddhist tranquility far from the crowds.
Compared to the Lingyin Temple, the Faxi Temple is smaller but quieter because it is built on top of a hill. With yellow walls, black tiles, red lanterns, and classic views, it attracts countless young netizens to come and take photos, who grant the temple with the highest number of daily reservations in the city.
It is also the holy destination for single people seeking marriage.

I like visiting temples because I love histories and being a Buddhist. Faxi temple doesn't have a big name like Lingyin Temple. However, it gives me the same overall religious feeling: peace and happy. To protect the environment, the temple won't let you bring your own incense in there. Instead, they gives you six pieces of incese. The temple has a long history, and you will read all about it.
I love it!

It's a very beautiful place, good to take a rest after a long walking trip in the mountains. Entrance fee is 10 yuan, three incense sticks are included (you can use them in the temple). I got there pretty late (Sunday, around 6pm) and couldn't get inside of anything, but I still enjoyed its quiet atmosphere. There's a place where you can eat in the morning and afternoon (if I remember correctly it was 8-10 and 15-17:30).

if you enjoy temples, this is one to visit, its quieter, not much of a tourist attraction and its huge. there's an RMB10 entrance fee but its OK for an afternoon of exploration. its in the mountains so its very lovely. beautiful and serene. there is also a canteen which you can buy cheap vegetarian buddhist meal during mealtimes on the right hand side inside the temple grounds.

after going to the temple visit, i would recommend a meal on the mountain. there's also a popular restaurant nearby - jiang an yi - if you are around the vicinity, its a must-try. (just at the left side from the temple entrance), even celebrities like Faye Wong and Wang Feng come here all the way to Q for dinner!

(would not recommend in winter, too cold!) a good time to visit would be spring or autumn. the weather is good and the view is lovely. summer is too hot and bugs like mosquitos are plenty. from faxi temple you can also take a leisurely stroll downwards to other temples along the way.
