This is another one of the Top 10 scenic sights in West Lake. It is located on the south side of the lake.
This was once a private residence and I believe it got its name after the red kois in the pond. There are also plenty of lotus flowers and peonies within the garden that offers free admission.

If you do go on the Su Causeway, near the south end you will see a bridge going west to this park, in chinese 花港观鱼。 It's really beautiful and worth a stop. You will find kiosks that sell fish food for 3 yuan for a bag, and it is fun to watch the golden carp go crazy over the food. Lots of nice photo opportunities in this Garden.

As one of the ten classic attractions of West Lake, Huagang Guanyu is located in one side of Su causeway. It is not only as a place to appreciate the golden fishes, but also a nice place to enjoy the greens and various flowers like a large garden.

The smog and people in Shanghai and Hangzhou got to me, so it was a nice trip to see the west lake. Unfortunately many others did the same, so peace was hard to find, but anyway nice to see some trees and even some animals for a change. I rented a bike to be able to go all around the lake.

I have visited this place with my guided tour. I could recommend to take the tour alone to have a little bit more time. The place is very big and when you are not hurry, you will enjoy.
One minus what this place has is that place is very touristy, attracts all people to spend their free time there. If you have possibility, visit place during week. On the weekend, it is overcrowded. Also when water lily bloom it is overcrowded.
My case I was lucky, no water lily bloom or special event, however no chance to see water lily blooming.

This was clearly a very beautiful place until a few years ago. You can still see the attractiveness of the site, but there's a thick haze on it now which gives it a dystopian feel.

It has a small nice garden and it is at one end of the famous beautiful Sudo dike. The whole dike was covered by the leaves and brunches of the tall trees planted along both sides of the only road on it. Sitting on the benches set on both sides of the road every few meters are great place, listening to the rhythmic sounds of water patting on the dike, and looking out to the broad lake makes a peaceful rest. There are quite a few arch bridges on this road, so it will be good excercises too. We saw squirrels running and jumping on the brunches of the trees. Wild ducks swimming on the water in the lotus flowers and leaves, drinking the rain drops collected by the lotus leaves.

Visit the fish pond at early spring, so crowded. My son very happy because He can feed the fish 😊 A very good enetertainment and experience especially for young children
There are so many fish. Many visitors feed bread but we choose to buy fish food rmb 3 at nearest stall.
The garden and walking path have a nice scenery. The time we visit the flowe start blooming.
