My wife and I have strolled this garden area many times. It is right by Yue Fei's memorial and the West Lake Impressions show. If you are scenic spotted out, but you feel a need to continue to experience Hangzhou, this is a good spot. It is beautifully nestled on the edge of the lake. Sculpted trees and human influenced natural beauty tucked away from the urban hustle and bustle. That is not the unique part. The West Lake area is famous for these beautiful scenes. At Quyuan Gardens, there is a small beer garden tucked away in its center. There is a large sign that says Mr. Beer, but the actual name escapes recollection. They have a nice assortment of Western beers. Including some of my favourite Belgians like Triple Karmeliet, Delirium, and of course a Chimay offering. It's a wonderful place to take in scenery, company and good beer!

If beer isn't to your liking, you will also find a Starbucks on the edge of the Garden and deep inside the garden.... This is Hangzhou, you can always find Starbucks.

It was not the best season to visit Quyuanfenghe in April as the lotus would only bloom in summer months from July to September each year. Nonetheless the site was still very beautiful and quite enjoyable to go around the nice garden in the vicinity. Highly recommend to visitors when travelling to Hangzhou.

Do you like taking photos of gorgeous Lotus flowers, while enjoying a stroll in the nice Chinese garden? This is a must see when you are in Hangzhou.

Make sure the season is right. August to mid September would be the best time to visit.

Summer in Hangzhou is unbearable, luckily they got a perfect hide-out here! The garden is a part of West Lake Scenic Area and there is a vast pond filled with lotus. Take a walk along the shady pavements, you will feel the heat slowly fading away.

Visting in february 2014 (near the end of winter), we found quyuanfenghe quite cold and windy - not the most pleasant place we visited. Perhaps this place would make for a more pleasant winter during the warmer months, but in winter, you could give it a miss.

My son and I biked through here on our ride around the lake. It's a beautiful section along Bei Shan Road, and part of the overall beauty of the bike ride.

We have again visited this tourist spot by late March this year knowing that the best months to view lotus flowers here should be in August. Nonetheless in Quyuanfenghe, the Friendly Garden was still full of visitors coming here to take photos on sakura trees. The place was pleasant and quiet. Recommended.

The best time to visit this spot including viewing of lotus should be between July to August each year. During our latest visit there by late March, we could see cherry trees in full bloom and the surrounding area was also very impressive. Recommended to others.

Was there just last month and it was the blossom season for lotus flowers. They were so beautiful! Standing on top of the slim stems, the pink lotus flowers or sometimes bulbs, and the deep green leaves twist and dance in the light breeze, with the ripples of West Lake and bridge ways in the backdrop - the sight is simply amazing!
