Gerry was very good guide who managed very effectively to discover in one day lot of things about the tea - the visit in tea village was very interesting and we also enjoyed lot in Budha temple.

Don't believe the pictures

I've been to this city twice on business and both times there was an exceptional haze due to air pollutants. The people, sites, facilities are excellent. Just be prepared for the traffic and the air pollution.

Stunning!
May 2014 • Family
This stunning city took my breathe away with its beauty and charm. It's right on the West Lake and it the mornings we watched the Chinese dancing on the water. A beautiful site.

Tea Lovers Destination
Apr 2012 • Couples
What Aix On Provence or Napa is for wine lovers, Hangzhou is for tea lovers.
The hills around this lakeside city are covered with Longjine tea farms, and silk farms.
Typical Chinese just put the tea and water in a drinking glass.
Never drink the first cup from the tea, the second and third cups are the tasty ones.
A great base is the Hongzhou Tea Boutique Hotel on the West side of the lake; but be sure to
get the Chinese name and address for the taxi drivers.
The immediate lake area is very touristy, crowded, and lots of horn honking .. but get a
driver to take you out into the hills (200RMB for a day trip) and things get much more
quiet and pleasant.
It helps to have someone bilingual along to make this a more effective outing.
"Gambei" .. "bottoms up"!
