Visited this lake area on a Sunday morning. Is a peaceful and quiet place (compared to the more famous West lake). Enjoyed the slow 2 hours stroll around part of the lake. A few friends opt for bike rental. They covered more ground but a few areas were not easily accessible for bikes. For strollers safety the pathway were uneven... More

If you have been to Hangzhou, Xiang hu (Xiang lake) won't be at the top of your bucket list but if you like nature and lakes it's a good place to see. It has nothing in common with the most famous lake in Hangzhou (Xi xu, westlake), it's out of the city (easy to reach by metro line 1, last... More

After having been to West Lake, I was uncertain of coming to Xiang Lake. BUT....so glad I did. So peaceful and quiet and very few people when compared with West Lake. You can take the subway and then walk to the lake (about 10-15mins walk) or take a taxi. Worth the trip.

This area was about a 30 minute walk from the hotel but worth it. It was a Sunday with excellent weather so it was very crowded even after night fall. Give yourself enough time for a nice walk.

It's free and really beautiful! You can go early and spend the day walking and enjoying the lake. Oh, and near you can found the Chinese Venice!

I visited "Xianghu" shortly after arriving in China and I was amazed by the beauty just a short trip away from my apartment. One must take line 1 (red) on the metro south to "Xianghu" then walk north on the main road that the metro exits to and about 15-20 minutes later you will reach the lake. A nice treat... More

We use to do bicycle trips to Xiang lake from Hangzhou. Also is possible to get there by Metro line 1 to terminal station XiangHu. Then by taxi or just walk 1.5km to the lake. I like Xiang lake because is less crowded than West lake. Maybe due to distance from Hangzhou and also it has not such history, temples... More

It was a great area to visit, but extremely difficult to naviate around without having someone with me to speak the local language. I had to rely on really nice strangers to help me get around. The taxis are no help - pretty much everyone was ordering them using an app/over the phone and they would not pick anyone up.... More

The Lake at Night Brings to life the stories of this area I love the Xian tian De cafe restaurant area then a walk holding hands or on a Bike circling the Lake Pure Lovelyness.

This lake is in Xiaoshan (across the river from Hangzhou proper) and can be reached by bus #327 from Wushan Square. It is truly amazing and peaceful. Very Chinese with the boats and the bridges and it has just been extended by another 1/2. It will take you more than 4 hours to walk around it unless you take the... More
