Very unique and enjoyable
Nov 2018 • Business
An immersive experience if you opt for Han costumes and ancient classical lessons. Made me appreciate the quiet scenic beauty of China and my Chinese cultural roots a lot more than before.

College is OK, Stone garden is great
Oct 2015 • Couples
Visited here on guided tour and felt we didn't spend enough time in the stone garden at the side which seemed like a great place for quiet contemplation. Make sure you read up on the love story that attaches to this place. The supposed "great view" from the top over Hangzhou? - non existent - obscured by trees and then there's the smog. If you're short on time, forget this.

Great place, wish they had more English
Great place to visit, around 15min drive from Hangzhou train station. Entrance was cheap, RMB60 for a family of 4. Beautiful place with lots of walking and photo ops. Beautiful garden and when up the hill, can see (if not foggy) the beautiful pagoda and West Lake. Better to see West Lake from here rather at the lake itself.

Learn how people used to do to get educated, get to a Imperial exam. Interesting. Wish they had English on their exhibit.

A Poetic Place for People to Blind Date
Jan 2014 • Solo
Wansong College is an ancient college built in Tang dynasty. Confucianist Wang Yangming from Ming dynasty has once given lectures here. It is said that the butterfly lovers Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai are students of this college. The Butterfly Lovers is one of "the Four Great Folklores of China" and the only one having earned world acclaim. With a history of 1,460 years, the Butterfly Lovers is known by one and all in China. Nowadays, many singles come to this college to blind date with others in order to find their forever partner because the marriage problems of leftover men and women are serious in China now. It is a good choice to date in such a poetic and beautiful place.

Coming here to study romance, ancient chinese style..
Oct 2013 • Friends
Old school? Not really that old. Seems newly built, but to details of the ancient times. As there is a legendary story of romance that happened in this academy. The surroundings gives you a very relaxing mood. Stairs going up to the academy premises proper, can be a drag, if you are not into walking.

Apart from the surroundings, coming to this academy is like going to study romance of the ancient chinese style

Do give this place a visit for sure.

An ancient college where a beautiful love story happened
May 2014 • Solo
It is an ancient college where a beautiful love story happened. You can see what an ancient Chinese academy was like hundreds years ago. But unfortunately, the building was only newly built according to the old style while nothing much preserved. But it is still a quiet and beautiful place worth visiting, especially in the Spring.

With sweeping views of the pagoda, lake district and forests I was amazed at the beauty.

A very affordable entrance fee.

Beautiful buildings from many centuries ago.
