By far this is one of the most beautiful 'indoor' places around the lake. There are gardens, fountains, and parts of the building. Everything is well preserved and it's for free!!

This was one of seven library pavilions built in China by the Qing Emperor Qianlong. This particular one was built in 1784 during the 49th year of his reign, with the express purpose of compiling the books of the ancient Chinese "Books of the Four Treasuries", or "Siku Quanshu" in Chinese.

Today this library still stands as the greatest state-compiled book series of ancient Chinese writings.

But unlike stuffy western libraries, this ancient site is set in beautiful gardens, rock landscapes, bamboo gardens and bonsai plants and trees.

Entry is free, so go in an enjoy the quiet and peaceful ambience, even if you do not understand the Chinese signs and displays.
