Fiona was our TravelChinaGuide tour guide in Hangzhou. We had the most relaxing two days in our entire China trip; thanks to Fiona who had a laid back attitude that served us well during our visit. Fiona had the best English among all the tour guides we were provided in China. Hangzhou is a place historically (and perhaps even now) known for people with various skill sets. Not coincidentally, Fiona came from a family that was also quite skillful. While in other parts of China we explored various places and learned about the history, in Hangzhou we had the pleasure of learning about how things work while in the context of those things. For example, Fiona took us to tea plantation and explained to us how green tea is harvested. Likewise, she also explained how silk is derived from silk worms (and Hangzhou is knowns for its silk). She arranged for an umbrella painting session at a local market, which was absolute fun. Overall, we highly recommend taking a tour with Fiona.

I went to China with my mom and I really wanted to visit Hangzhou. We signed up with Travel China Guide and our contacts were very nice and helpful. We had tickets for the high speed train from Shanghai to Hangzhou. When we arrived, we were instantly found by our guide Clara. She greeted us and escorted us to the car. As we drove she talked about the history of the area and how tech has really helped Hangzhou grow. The tour with Clara was really fun. She was motivating and educational. I was sweating a lot and needed water. After the first couple bottles Clara knew I liked cold water. She made sure after that to get me the coldest water the vendor had. I was really impressed with her customer service and overall friendliness! We visited a tea plantation and a pagoda as well. It was a fun trip and very worth it. If you end up on this tour, ask for Clara! You won't be disappointed.

Our Travel China Guide Tour Guide, Gerry picked my husband & I up from the train station at 10:00 am for a full day tour of Hangzhou. We took at boat cruise on West Lake to see the 3 Pools in the Mirroring the Moon on the water, this image is on the back of the 1 Yuan note. Next was a Meijiawu Tea Village where we walked the tea museum and Gerry explained the museum as went thru. We got to experience a real formal tea ceremony. With Gerry's expertise we skipped the tea snacks and instead enjoyed a full lunch at a local restaurant, The Lane that was delicious! Next Gerry added an activity that wasn't on our itinerary, we hiked Tiger Spring Mountain, which had very cool tiger sculptures on a mineral spring mountain. In the evening I would highly recommend the Enduring Memories of Hangzhou West Lake Show. This is a 1 hour show with lasers, over 200 dancers walking on water with music. This show was created for the G20 Summit 2016. Gerry and our driver transported us to and from the show. In the morning Gerry took us to the train station for our train to Beijing. I would highly recommend Travel China Guide Tours and Gerry for your tour in Hangzhou and China!

Hangzhou is very interesting and parts of it are quite beautiful but despite the AMAZING wonderful guide we had (Derek!), some of the sights are a bit disappointing. Travel China Guide service was terrific and customized the tour for our needs and interests.West Lake is interesting but not extraordinary and some of the sights are re-built because of destruction during cultural revolution. This can't be helped, but the result doesn't have as much of an impact. Overall, the tour was more about culture -- then and now -- and less about history. Still worth doing perhaps in a day trip. We have used the service in other parts of China and never disappointed.
