I contacted Wonders of Yunnan when I was considering a brief weekend trip to China during a business trip to Malaysia. I got excellent advice in response to my questions from Melanie at Wonders of Yunnan which helped me to see that my plans were unrealistic, so I did not make the trip after all. Melanie was very helpful even though I did not ever purchase anything from her or her agency.
As it turns out, however, I planned a much longer trip for the following year and Melanie helped me through all my questions over several months. She considered all my requirements and provided lots of advice, creating the perfect tour for me as a solo photographer.
Then, several months before the trip, I got into a relationship and invited my partner, making this a couple's trip. Melanie took care of all of the logistics for me and offered relevant advice again.
During the trip itself, our driver was very good at helping us through the trip, although now the itinerary, which I had set up expecting to travel alone, did not suit us as a couple so well! This was not the fault of Melanie, the driver, or Wonders of Yunnan, of course.
My partner and I decided to change our vacation to go to Bali instead, and the driver and Wonders of Yunnan were very flexible in helping us change our plans mid-trip.
Definitely a wonderful experience all the way through! Highly recommended.

I was happy to hear you enjoyed the trip and I hope to see some of your photos soon. Hopefully, Yuanyang and Dongchuang Red Lands were at a good time for photography. It was unfortunate that you couldn't finish the second part of your trip to Meili Snow Mountain, but I understand that a solo photographers trip is something different than when you are together with a partner.

We booked a tailor made tour on short notice and our booking request was efficiently handled by Zoie. All details settled over a few days. Very efficient.
We were very satisfied with the arrangements in both Lijiang and Guilin/Yuangshuo, and our guides Brendon and Fei are both pleasant, knowlegdeable and dedicated.
I am happy to give my recommendations to all three.
One area of improvement for Wonders of Yunnan is about safety belts in the cars. In both cars that was used during our tour, there were not proper three point seat belts for all passengers. My recommendation is that Wonders of Yunnan sets three point seat belts as a requirement for engagement for all cars that they use for their activity - and that it is followed up that the seat belts are in good condition.
During our tour, we experienced one car incident. Luckily, only the car was damaged and no one was hurt. Our sons that was in the car at the time of the accident made their own arrangements back to the hotel. However, the incident made my concern about the seat belts more “real” .

We took a 9-day tour with this company and opted to go without a tour guide since we spoke a little Mandarin.
Katherine was a tremendous help in organizing our trip. The recommended places have great views such as Shangri-La, Snow Jade Mountain and Jade Lake Village, Lijiang.
We had an amazing experience, despite some hectic train arrangements during the middle of our journey. Everything was managed well in the end by Katherine. Our family were really grateful for Katherine's help.
However, I highly recommended to opt for full tour without travelling via train to prevent hassle. In addition to that, request for a tour guide if you are not a local, as this will save you time and relieve the anxiety of obtaining entrance tickets to certain tourist attractions.

Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids) completed our tour of Liliang and Shangrila! This would not have been possible without the help of Katherine and her team of drivers. I engaged Wonders of Yunnan for private driver transfers between Lijiang and Shangrila and Katherine was super prompt and patient with our queries and changes in itinerary. She attended to our WeChat questions very promptly even on Sunday too! Amazing service attitude! The drivers were punctual and rides were comfortable.

Recently I have visited with my wife Guangxi, Guizhou and Hunan Regions for 10 days.
Specifically we have been in Guillin, Yangshuo, Xingping, Tongren, Fanjing Mountain, Fenghuang, Furong anf Zhangjiajie.
What an amazing holidays we have enjoyed these days.
As we did in 2019, where we visited Yunnan Region, we have entrusted again Wonders of Yunnan the organization of our holidays.
All I can say is that they are absolutely phenomenal. They help us with all transportations with driver, entrance tickets, suggestions, etc,,,
Everything ran perfect without any single issue. They are very professional.
For sure I will recommend this company to anyone who would like to visit China in the future. They will not regret it.
In my case I hope I could visit China again in the future for the 3rd time and book with them their services again.

Wonders of Yunnan Travel are an excellent tour guide company and I cannot recommend them enough. They were very helpful creating a personalised tour to give us exactly what we wanted from our trip to China, and had so much knowledge about the best things to visit and when to go. The tour guides were so helpful making the travelling smooth and easy, with excellent English language skills, and amazing knowledge about the areas they were showing us, including the history and culture. They were also willing to share their personal lives and stories which made the trip even more special. The communication with Wonders of Yunnan was excellent, and Kaylee was absolutely wonderful. After our trip had finished, our flight out of Shangri-La was cancelled due to snow, and Kaylee helped us to cancel, refund and rebook flights to get back to Shanghai that evening! She was so helpful and spent so much time getting money off the cancellation fee for us. Thank you Kaylee!

We had a lovely tour with Wonders of yunnan. We did 8 day tour that included Kunming, Dali, Linjiang, and Shangri-La. We were 3 people: myself, my husband and our adult daughter.
We enjoyed our time very much, the guides were good & spoke well. We especially loved Victor (Kunming) & Betsy (Shangri-La). Linda in Dali was a lot of fun too and really helped out with a hotel issue. This was our first trip to China & Katherine at the office made it very very easy! She was attentive & even though our booking was somewhat last minute, we were able to stay & see everything we had agreed to ahead of time. She adjust the itinerary for our needs to. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

I contacted WOY for an 8-day group tour to Tibet. My agency contact Katherine immediately sent us the programme and all the necessary information for the trip. Katherine also helped us obtain the necessary visa for a stay in China of more than 15 days. The Chinese consulate in our country asked us for more documents to obtain it and Katherine did everything she could to help us. She was extraordinary, answering our messages at all hours of the day and night, and helped us when we encountered some difficulties. Hello, I would like to do 4-5 days of hiking around Lijiang, Deqin but do not have a China tourist visa and do not have time to get one in my home country before leaving to go to Asia. Can you help an individual tourist who arrives in Kunming get a 30-day tourist visa, after entering Kunming using the 144 hour visa free entry?

Thanks for your message.
In general, you can enter China only with a valid visa. In your case it would be the Tourism (L) visa. You have to apply for it in advance. Currently, there is no visa on arrival.
The 144 hours’ visa is only a TRANSIT visa, that means you are arriving from country A, stop in Kunming for 144 hours and continue your trip to country B. Arriving from country A and flying back to country A is not possible. Moreover, with this transit visa you are only allowed to stay within Kunming district. Traveling to Lijiang is not possible!
If you have further questions on this issue please feel free to write us an email directly. We can help you with the visa application (providing documents), and of course, organizing a 4-5 days hiking trip around Lijiang and Deqin.

There are 4 of us who would like to make a tour from Kunming to Pugao Laozhai village to see the Honghe Hani Rice Terraces. On the first day we would like to go to the Jianshui Ancient City and make sightseeing over there. We don't know which is better
1. To stay in the Ancient City overnight. In the morning go to Pugao Laozhai village to see the rice fields and stay there overnight. On the next morning return to Kunming. It'll take us 3 days in total.
2. To go directly to Hani Rice Terraces to see the rice fields during the sunset and on the morning of the following day to see them early in the morning. And afterwards return to Kunming. In total it'll take us 3 days.
Could you please tell us how much it'll be in case you can organize our transfer (a car with a driver) Kunming - Jianshui Ancient City - Honghe Hani Rice Terraces - Kunming.

Hello, If you only need transportation, the price is 250 RMB per person (4 persons travel together). Driver with modern van would pick you up in Kunming downtown and drop you off again. Also depends a bit on your traveling period, please advise.
