Pleasant old campus. However, most of the school is in the suburbs. Toured with professor who undoubtedly went through a lot during the cultural revolution. Can't imagine the turmoil back in the 60's on campus.

The downtown campus on Wenlin Street 文林街 is shady and peaceful. A good place to walk around or just sit on a bench and read a book This particular campus of Yunnan University is now used more by graduate students than by rowdy undergrads. Consequently, it has a different feel. Not difficult to strike up a conversation here with friendly... More

This is one of those spots in Kunming that the average foreign tourist looks at and says "ho-hum -- another college campus." Sure, it has a number of ordinary looking university buildings with students hanging out on benches, as you would expect. But . . . smack in the middle is the old imperial examination building where for centuries aspiring... More

We went on a short walk through the campus. It is very green with lots of flowers. Many people are playing sports, chatting and eating. The campus is not too big, and there are lots of cheap tasty snacks around the outside. You can visit the University from the Cui Hu park.

Beautiful, friendly campus worth a stroll if you are in the neighborhood. Some of the architecture is very well preserved, although it has lost some of it's energy since the main campus has now moved to the outskirts of town. Good place for pick-up basketball with locals, or skateboarding on the long walkways!

The climate of Kunming allows a wide variety of flowers and greenery to flourish, and indeed it does at the entrance to the university. There are a daunting number of steps for those looking for the exercise, but an easier asphalt path to the left. Once on campus, a good map is helpful because the campus layout is a little... More

The university was the host of the conference. They were very helpful and go out of their way. There are nice places to visit in the university. There is a very ancient building where imperial court exams were held. When we were there, a student held a painting exhibition. We also watched students talented in dancing. The night market beside... More
