Our Silk Road tour with Wendy Wu in Oct 19 was a fantastic experience with our group seeing parts of China not many people get to see.

It was difficult to really pick out the highlights as we travelled from Xian northwest, as there were so many.
Lanzhou, Xiahe, Zhangye, Dunhuang, Turpan, Kashgar, there was much histroy and changing landscapes as we headed west.

The food was great all the way through, the accomodation very good and our transport be it either bus, fast train or plane was always well organised and of a very high standard.
The tour itinary was well balanced between travel, site seeing, and rest, while our small group size of 16 made the trip very friendly and relaxing.

All our local guides throughout the trip vere very friendly and informative, but the tour was made special by our exceptional national tour guide Cathy Lee.
From day one, picking us up from the airport in Xian, to dropping us off to fly out of Beijing, she was the ultimate professional.
She looked after every individual and or couple whenever special attention was required and brought the group together as family of 16, which is no easy task considering our age differences and all coming from different parts of the world.
She gave us useful insights into Chinese history, culture and family life all the way along the journey which was appreciated by everyone in the group.
So to sum up I would recommend this trip to anyone interested in the Silk Road and Chinese culture, past and present.

It was our first trip to China and our guide Sophie made it all the more enjoyable & interesting. From meeting us on arrival at Shanghai Airport to our final evening in Beijing Sophie couldn’t be more helpful, going out of her way to make sure her ‘family’ were kept entertained and taken care of. Sophie was full of useful information on the places we visited. Sophie takes delight in her role and is such a bubbly firecracker character, a credit to her profession and to Wendy Wu Tours. Thank you Sophie for making our trio such a memorable one & I know the others in the group felt the same.

We joined a small group of 23 on an ultimate tour including Macchu Picchu. I think most of us thought you put together a great itinerary and each segment flowed really well. The flights, coaches, trains, and boats, hotels, tours & the guides.

Don't book with Wendy Wu! We did Jewels of Japan for Cherry Blossom festival 27th Mar to 6th April% bad experience from start to finish. Bad airport pick up, have to get public bus to hotel! Arrived late at hotel so missed welcome meal with rest of tour. Rushed into restaurant as it was closing to then sit & wait over 15 mins for food which was cold, not great after a very long flight. This was theme for rest of tour, being rushed into all meals & food was always cold or barely warm! Nothing on the tour was as expected other than the sights (even Wendy Wu couldn't mess them up!) Food 90% unpalatable with substandard restaurants, often with dirty facilities! Think of Japan then you think of 'sushi', we were never offered this & never had enough 'downtime' to buy our own. Mostly existed on snacks bought at motorway services during a 10 min toilet break! Hotels were below standard with some well below acceptable cleanliness levels. Felt rushed all the time with less than 30 mins at end of day's sightseeing to freshen up for early evening meal. No downtime at all, only managed to get few souvenirs at before mentioned motorway service stations! Airport transfer arrangements for return flight were a shambles. Didn't find out pick up time until 8.30pm nght before! Were told to be in reception at 3.30am, only to be told at 3.30am we weren't being picked up til 4.30am. We were very worried we would miss flight check in as the information seemed vague & confused! Not great to be so stressed prior to long flight home. Naturally I sent complaint to Wendy Wu, however it was treated with contempt! They felt that a £100 voucher off next trip was sufficient compensation! This was meant to be a 70th birthday once in a lifetime trip & was totally ruined by Wendy Wu as the whole tour facilities & food were substandard. Basically I was fobbed off as I would never use Wendy Wu again. Have been on 3 previous tours with other tour operators to India, China & US & never had such a bad experience! Do not use Wendy Wu unless you want to pay for an expensive tour, but end up getting a disappointing experience! Didn't even get a Cherry Blossom festival experience, have probably seen more trees in UK!

I would 100% recommend Wendy Wu.
A wonderful full-on experience. We visited Beijing , forbidden city, the great wall, Xian, Chengdu, Yangtze river, three gorge dam, Guilin, Suzhou and Shanghai, with many more ‘wow’ places in-between. The itinerary was well thought out.
Our tour guide Amanda was with us throughout with additional local guides. Amanda’s hard work and attention to detail was impressive which helped to deliver a smooth run tour. She was very knowledgeable of her county.
I wouldn’t have tried to do this trip for the first visit to China as a lot of organising, understanding their ways and having some Chinese phrases learned as the majority Chinese didn’t speak any English. Most would let you speak into their phones for translation. I’m sure this will rapidly change as tourism increases.
The Chinese were so welcoming and warm. Most of us were asked to pose for photographs taken with them. They love and are proud of their country. They are encouraged to see their country too which is why there were so many of them making it busy at the tourist spots.
My post office prepaid card didn’t work at any ATM. Taking more Chinese currency worked well.
I travelled solo along with other singles and couples (15 of us). Our group got on well and looked out for each other. The hotels were better than I had expected with a good breakfast included. The chosen restaurants for lunch and dinner gave us a chance to taste the different local cuisine as we travelled through the country. The squat ladies toilets were not my favourite.
If you want more free time or to explore at your own pace then I recommend trying another tour company.

This tour proved to be a wonderful experience highlighting most of the sites on anyone's bucket list for China. The Great Wall; Beijing with all its magnificent temples and historical buildings; Terracotta Warriors; Yantzi River cruise; Panda's in Chongqing; the breathtaking Li River and the financial centre of Shanghai.

The tour Director, Addison, was first class, knowledgeable, friendly and went out of his way to ensure everyone got the maximum value from the trip. He was very passionate about China and made sure that we all had a good time and happy memories of the country.

I would recommend this tour to anyone wishing to see the major attractions that China has to offer.

My family and I went on the 3 day Beijing tour and had a great time. Our tour guide Jimmy was very knowledgeable and informative. We saw many local sites in the three days and ate many local delicious cuisines. We would highly recommend this tour for those considering this trip.

An absolutely excellent tour. This was the first Wendy Wu tour to China post Covid. We climbed the Great Wall near Beijing, visited the Warriors in Xian, met the pandas one of which was celebrating his birthday .We had a cruise down the Yangtze with our local river guide Andy Lee, a trip down the Li river and experienced the magnificent Shanghai. Our National Guide Addison couldn't do enough for us. He was both very personable and extremely informative. Thanks to our local guides too - Cathy, Hoffman, Shirley, Steven and Dawn not forgetting lovely Yangkee in the Minorities' area. A wonderful trip and surely the Wonders of China with 27 other travelling companions who became friends.

It was my Dads dream to climb The Great Wall of China so we booked the Wendy Wu Experience China Tour (we had never been to China before) and we go so much more than we expected. Ivy was our National guide and she was with us every step of the way from the second we landed in China! We were made to feel welcome by Ivy as well as our local guides Troy, Nick and Jade who were very knowledgeable of the history of all the sites we visited. All our guides also had a great sense of humour and went above and beyond answering our questions and making our trip enjoyable. When my dad and I finally climbed the Great Wall we had already made so many great memories across Shanghai, Xi’an and Beijing that the Great Wall became just one more highlight in a trip full of highlights and Wow moments!

This tour, though long, was very comprehensive. It covered a large geographical area carefully selected ranging from Beijing to Dali. It was tiring but well worth it. Guides were excellent and very knowledgeable. Would recommend Wndy Wu
