Sometimes you just want a glass of wine or a gin & tonic. And, sometimes those are hard to find in China (many hotel bars will serve glasses of bear but only full bottles of wine). The Belgian Bar is near the South Gate in Xi'an and satisfied our craving for a Tanqueray and Tonic. We also enjoyed two different live bands. Excellent musicians and singers. Prices are for westerners, but at least they are not New York prices. We went twice and there was a small friendly crowd each time (other bars we looked at were almost vacant).

not our kind of place in China - would prefer a more local style pub, and there are several in this lively area by the old city wall - but were all either so loud we couldn't hear each other, or full. So - Belgian then. Offer a selection of mostly imported beers, very expensive though. Live music was local, atmosphere relaxed, the waiters wanted to be extra kind and put fans directed towards our table, so after the beer needed to escape, to avoid major pneumonia ;)

Without doubt the worst place we visited in whole China. Very bad and expensive food. Being 5 people we had to wait 2 hours between the first and last was served. The food was so bad that we even didn't finished it. We were ashamed to be Belgian.

Enjoyable evening with a good choice of quality Belgian beers. Friendly and helpful staff. Live music playing inside. Sitting outside in the warm evening breeze.

This bar was lively, friendly and cosy. The bar staff were very good and knew their beers while the musicians were friendly. We really liked the atmosphere here.
