The wall is 12 meters high, 12 to 14 meters wide at the top and 14 km in length. On top of the wall are toilets, souvenir shops and bicycles rental stations. There is also a museum. We planned to rent bicycles but could not because we are above 60 years old, so we walk for about 4 km. on... More

We started at the South Gate and walked SW towards the North Gate. We were constantly zigzagging across the wall to see what was over the other side. Great to see a beautiful park all around the wall. Nice to see people conducting their everyday life. Took us 4 hrs. to enjoy the walk and we only did half of... More

The ancient wall is a nice way to see Xi'an from different angles, to enjoy your experience take the bicycle ride (about 15 klm) as you will enjoy cycling, exercising and enjoying the city.. And you can stop on the way to take some photos. It's a lifetime experience.

Very close to the downtown and is an impressive structure. Try and find time to walk around and explore this Ancient City wall. It also provides an insight into how the cities were protected in olden days.

The wall is extremely well maintained and preserved. A bit pricey to get on, but the place is spotless, full of history and has great views of the City. We managed to do a couple mile walk along it. Very clean comfort station / restrooms as well along the wall. Did not have time to do a bike ride, but... More

The sheer size of the main gate and the whole wall structure are magnificent and breathtaking. A stroll on top of the wall in the morning is most refreshing and enjoyable. Some ancient war weapons are being displayed.

The thick and tall wall from xi'an is surrounding the old town on more than 10km. You can rent a bike a ride on top of the wall on the quite large way. However it is quite crowded so that you need to concentrate on not hitting anyone. The views on the city are ok. The atmosphere is quite pleasant... More

My partner and I were on a tour that ended at the City walls, we then opted to hire bikes and cycling around the 14km wall. It was a great way to see the city and inspect the towers close up. Be warned that the bikes aren't that comfy and it IS 14km... It took me and my partner (who... More

The wall is a beautiful welcome to the downtown area...I recommend taking a bike ride at dusk, especially if the weather is nice!

I've seen many city gates and walls in Europe and North America, but the one in Xi'an is the most impressive I've ever seen. It's totally intact, well preserved, and some nine miles in total length. If you travel to Xi'an to see the Terra-cotta Warriors, you'll find the City Wall an unexpected surprise and pleasure.
