We organised a tour with China Connection Tours in July 2020 to Louyang, Xi'an and Chengdu.
Our tour guides (Linda, Bruce and Aaron) were excellent and very informative. Their English and knowledge of each destination was perfect. It was great to be able to chat to our guides about everything. Jason, the tour operator was always in communication over e-mail or WeChat
We live in China so had already booked our train tickets and hotel; so we got picked up from the hotel lobby in perfectly clean MPVs. As there was only two of us , we could tailor our trip how we wanted it and the guides accommodated everything.
We were not crowd at the attractions due to the limited number of tourists because of the travel bans. But I would suggest trying to get / book tickets for attractions beforehand; otherwise the queues during normal tourist season will be huge!
I would definitely suggest this tour agency to my colleagues and my family. The trip was seamless, the communication excellent, the transport perfect, the guides amazing and it was competitively priced compared to other agencies.

I worked closely with Hu Bin to organize a 12 day trip which included Vietnam (Hanoi, HCMC and Hoi An) and Cambodia (Siem Reap). The trip was flawless from the hotels, guides, transportation (flights and hotel/airport transfers) and excursions. We are from NYC and traveled with our 13 year old son and 15 year old daughter. Hu Bin has also planned China based trips for my parents and in-laws. Hu Bin is organized, efficient and highly responsible. I highly recommend working with him.

My husband and I traveled to China with our four children (ages 16,13,11 and 11) this summer to China. We spent one week touring, spending most of our time in Beijing and then a couple days in Luoyang and Xi'an. We decided to go with China Connection Tours for many reasons and we were very satisfied with our choice. We like to research our trips and had many specific ideas about where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see. I emailed back and forth with the main office repeatedly asking questions and making modifications. They were always accommodating, cheerful and prompt. We were pleased to have our own guide to go at our own pace. The guides were informative and friendly. The drivers got us safely from one spot to the next and after seeing the driving habits of the Chinese, we were very pleased to have a driver who knew how to navigate such traffic. The accommodations were all clean and comfortable. And best of all: the price was very reasonable for such wonderful, personalized service. The company made one mistake and booked our overnight train tickets on the wrong night. Unfortunately, there were no tickets available any longer for the night we wanted. Although this was upsetting, China Connections worked carefully and thoughtfully with us to create a solution. We ended up spending one more day in Beijing, strolling through one of the local parks all morning. It turned out to be one of our favorite activities during our whole stay. It was lovely to see all the people out singing, dancing with scarves, doing Tai Chi, painting calligraphy on the sidewalk with big waterbrushes---it was a colorful and relaxing day. I highly recommend China Connections Tours as they were reliable, accommodating and fair.

Thanks very much for your comments on the Trip Advisor.
I am a little bit surprised that you spoke highly of our service even we made a mistake during your tour. You and your family were very active and had ideas about what and where to see. It was a nice experience to assist you to finalize the tour. It turned out a really good trip combining your interests and my professional advices. But good things never come so easily. One of our colleagues made a mistake and affected your tour. As soon as I knew this, I called you and e-mailed you to apologize and tried to find a satisfying solution. After several call, we found a good way to solve this. And I was so glad that all of you enjoyed the extra day in Beijing. I am so grateful that you recommend China Connection Tours. And it is a great honor to meet you again in China.
Best regards!

We were going to make a tour of China with China connection. Transferred half of the amount to their account. Due to the pandemic, we canceled the tour well in advance. The firm promised a refund in January 2022. So far nothing has been returned. At first they answered our letters, now they are simply silent. Never do business with this company, they do not fulfill their obligations.

My travel agent "Original World/Spirit of India" located in California booked a 19 day tour for me to the "Sister's Rice Festival" outisde of Kaili China using the local tour company CHINA CONNECTION TOURS. Guides, driver and car were included, but not air, meals, or hotels.
With 6 days left of the tour and before the festival, Jason of China Connection Tours directed the guide to leave me and go to another tour. This was tramtic for me as almost no one spoke English and I missed some of the tour highlights. I got no moeny back for the part that they did not deliver.

The planning process for our tour went exceptionally well. We were provided with great flights and were helped to process out visas. This was the last part of the process that went well. Upon arriving in Beijing our tour guide was not there and we had to wait nearly 30 minutes until he arrived. Our Beijing tour guide's spoken English was barely understandable. The first day of our travel he was very helpful and recommended places for us to see and explore without him as well as discussing the many sights we saw with him (when we were able to understand him). The second day he was not very helpful and basically left us to explore everything on our own. By day three the trip was becoming unbearable. Our original itinerary was not followed. Elements such as breakfast and entry fees to tour sites were not included until we stopped and complained to our tour planner. Again our tour guide's spoken English in Xian was horrible even when compared to our first guide. The itinerary was not well planned, upon arriving in Xian after a 6 hour train ride the guide rushed us to our first tour site, instead of checking us into our hotel as originally planned. After seeing the first few sites we finally got to our hotel to freshen up and determined the planned itinerary was to packed to continue. The next day we enjoyed the Terra Cotta warrior museum but again our tour guide attempted to adjust the schedule to fit in all the tour elements missed the day before without realizing the effect it would have on our train schedule. Our final leg of the tour took us to Shanghai, our tour guide spoke clearer English then the others but was very soft spoken. He provided us with a great tour and even allowed us to experience sights not originally scheduled which enhanced the tour. This is important as there really is nothing to see or experience in Shanghai. On our last day we were escorted to the train and sent on our way to the airport with directions to the wrong terminal. Overall the experience with the tour guides and itinerary was not worth the benefit gained from a package tour. Highly recommend you find a different agency or use them only to schedule flights as they did find us a great deal on the flights.

I wouldn’t recommend China Connection Tours to a friend.
This is the procedure they followed with me.
1) They offered me 2 particular train tickets for $245. The tickets were worth $180. I paid the extra money for their fees and commission and delivery and because they’re “a reputable travel agency since 1987.”
2) Then, they told me to pay as soon as possible or I wouldn’t be able to get the tickets. Before paying, I made double-sure. Am I really getting the 2 particular tickets? They replied, Yes! You are getting the 2 particular tickets. Pay now!
3) After paying, it was time for them to make good. Instead of giving me the 2 particular tickets, they wanted to give me 1 good ticket and 1 cheaper, undesirable ticket.
4) I complained.
5) They told me that they never promised me the 2 particular tickets.
6) They gave several excuses for why they couldn’t give me the 2 particular tickets.
7) Having no choice, I had to settle for a cheaper, undesirable ticket – a ticket I did not want.
China Connection Tours doesn’t consider this cheating. To them, offering nothing in return for money paid is cheating. Offering less is not.

I am surprised to see your comments and sorry for making you disappointed when receiving our service. I checked with our staff and found it was Lesley who handled your inquiry. Below is Lesley's feedback for you:
I have received your inquiry about booking two lower hard-sleeper train tickets from Beijing to Kunming. After checking the tickets availabilty, I confirmed with you the price and asked for payment as we can only issue the train tickets after received your payment. As soon as the money is received, I tried my best to buy two lower hard-sleeper tickets for you but finally failed because the train tickets are under great demanding and the train station did not give the sepecific berth we wanted. To avoid making your trip interrupted, , I bought one lower and one middle hard-sleeper ticket for you without firstly notify you (my fault). After that, I called you immediately and expressed my apology. To show our sincerity, I refunded RMB100 (the price difference between middle & lower ticket is only RMB15) and informed my colleague to give the cash to you. At that time, you agreed and we talked over the phone to make the deal closed. Of course I understand the RMB100 refund can not make up for you unconformtable journey in middle bed, but I just wanted to let you know I am not making money from the price differences. Actually, I am always trying my best to sovle the problems for you. Again, sorry that my work made your trip in China unpleasant. I should contact you before I purchased the two tickets-one middle and one lower which are not consistent with your specific requirements to avoid this unpleasant result. Please accept my sincere apology here and your understanding is highly appreciated.
----Lesley

I took the Xi'an and Shanghai tours with my husband in late Oct. Everything tured out to be better than i could have expected, :). The tour guide in Xi'an was perfect, he talked all the time along the tour. We enjoyed it so much. BTW, the guide recommended a brillant Dancing show at night, which was the extra joy i had in the trip. In Shanghai, i love the watertown most. The driver is very experienced, and we felt safe with him, lol. Briefly, the tour was arranged very well, and we did make use of the time to see and try new things. Will absolutely go with them if we will travel in China again. Cheers.

Our arrangements were handled by Eric and he was extremely helpful and prompt in answering all our questions. We were surprised that we had to pay for the tour completely beforehand as this has never been the case for tours we have taken in other countries.
We were met by our first guide at the cruise ship terminal without any problems. This guide was well-spoken and both he and the driver took good care of us. We followed the itinerary that we had agreed to and were able to modify it as we wanted. The Chinese Acrobatic show was excellent although our seats were in the last row of the theater.
The following morning we continued our tour and were taken to the airport for our flight to Xi'an. The guide walked us into the airport and helped with check-in etc.
We were met in Xi'an as arranged. Our guide was too soft spoken and tended to mumble at times. We had a hard time understanding him. The terra cotta warriors were outstanding. The guide was very knowledgable about the warriors although he did to accompany us in the pits. We enjoyed the Tang Dynasty show and dumpling dinner that evening.
We were met once again and taken back to our hotel in Shanghai following our return flight from Xi'an.
Lunch on all days was a disappointment. We had explained to our guides that we did not eat a great deal and liked to eat in local places. All the lunch spots were tourist spots and we always ate alone. In Xi'an we were the only people in the restaurant. We would have liked different options for lunch but were told that the company had arrangements and the guides couldn't change the lunch spots.
The visit to the silk factory in Shanghai and the terra cotta warriors workshop in Xi'an were touristy but we did not feel pressured to buy in either spot.
Our drivers were excellent. Even with the crazy driving and all the traffic, we felt safe and secure. We arranged privately for our driver in Shanghai to take us to the airport for our final flight back to the states.
Overall, we were pleased with our tour with China Connections. Having everything arranged for us made the experience easier. I would recommend China Connections but would caution you to be very clear up front of your expectations and needs.

We requested guidance for a two week tour of China, visiting Beijing, Xian, the Yangtze River and Wuhan. Everything was arranged for us, including guides, drivers, hotels, train and air arrangements and some of our meals. A lot of details that made our journey easy and organized. The costs were reasonable and the planning was complete. I can highly recommend China Connections as a company to make a trip to China accessible to anyone.

Hello!
Do you still exist?
I have a voucher for a deposit paid in 2020. They promised me that I can get my money back in 2022. No money. The last email I got was of 22nd March. Nobody answers my emails after that.
What is going on with China Connection Tours?

Hello, I got tickets to the Forbidden city already. I just want someone to give us a tour around the Forbidden city on Sunday 27th from 9am to 11am.
Let me know

Our experience is that they can customize a tour so I would not hesitate to inquire with your specific date and time. They may also suggest post-Forbidden City activities.

I have used China Connection Tours twice and they are fantastic. The first time (in 2009) we modified one of their standard tours, which included Shanghai and a 3 day Yangtze cruise, adding 3 extra small cities that I wanted to visit. They added them to the tour seamlessly, and the tour lasted 21 days. This year, I picked the 10 places that I wanted to visit (one being Chengdu for the pandas), and they put together a 23 day itinerary and a great tour for my wife and I. For both trips, I handled the international flights to & from China, but I know they have that capability. I can say without hesitation that they can handle everything from LA to Hong Kong beautifully, and the traveler will be very glad he selected them. They are extremely efficient and very conscious about quality control relative to guide selection, hotel quality as you specify, and vehicle safety and comfort . I am certain that they would handle the Hong Kong to Hawaii flight, but I recommend that the traveler handle the arrangements in Hawaii. If the traveler has additional questions, I will be happy to help.
