Street with bars and restaurants, some better than others. If you are looking for a place to do some pub crawling, this is it.

Biggest concentration of western styled bars in Xi'an. Very popular with Chinese tourists. Some bars feature karaoke. Expect to pay up to 60 CNY for a 500 ml draught beer. Popular spots on the strip include No. 1 Bar (1st bar on the northern end of the street), De Fu Lou cafe & beer house, Old Henry's Bar and Snail. Many bars remain closed until late afternoon. In general, the street lacks any real vibrancy or excitement, even on busy weekend nights.

With bars/pubs somewhat limited in Xi'an, we heard about Defu Alley and it was our best bet to watch the 2019 Rugby World Cup Final. We checked the Alley out during the day when it is completely dead and found some potential spots that might show sports (based on the fact we could see TV's). After walking around the south gate of Xi'an City Walls we returned when it was getting a bit more lively. We found a bar/pub opposite Old Henry's at the end of the street and they were airing the game, unfortunately in Chinese but almost every England fan in Xi'an must've been there (a combined total of about 15 people). The service was good however for China the drinks were slightly expensive.
Many of the bars along the road looked similar so I imagine that prices are like that of the one we visited. We did not stay late so I can't comment on the atmosphere post 7pm, however at 7pm the street did look appealing with plenty of colourful lights and the sound of music so I would reccomend it as a place (perhaps the only) to have a variety of drinks in Xi'an. Also getting there is simple, there are instructions online; just pass under the south gate from the Metro (which is south of the south gate) and walk to the north west, past large hotels, you will see an archway which is pictured on Trip Advisor. Defu Alley doesn't immediately start here, just carry on following the road for roughly 100m and you will come across Defu Alley.

Lots to see and do here. Stop in to hear some good music and sample local brews and a bite to eat. Try out a few of the places, as each is different in their atmosphere.

Most of the bars here are more or less clones of each other. Most places send their people into the streets to hassle visitors into entering their establishments. Avoid the ones with live music. In the late afternoon, it's fun to walk along and see how many places have cats outside.

This is a small street full of bars. Some with really good live band. Chosen one that I like, get some beer and chill for the night. Was there till about 1am and they are still active even on a weekday.

I walked through here late at nice and then again in the morning. We couldn't resist taking some photos, especially of the streets lined with trees, not decorated and undecorated.

It was really nice.

This is OK if you want to stop for a beer, but has no charm or interest, this isn't what I came to Xi'an for. We didn't bother to stop just passed on through, that said there were a lot of people here so I guess it appeals to some. If you want to stop for a drink process seemed reasonable.
