A well preserved example of peaceful sanctum dedicated to translating Buddhist sacred texts from India during Tang dynasty. The venerable pagoda is asking for repairs and is currently closed. Upon entering the grounds, it is fairly beautiful, with old trees on the grounds and nice gardens. The brickwork on the pagoda itself is much more intricate compared to Da Yanta (the Big Goose Pagoda). However, we were blocked from entering the pagoda - apparently...More

The display of history is excellent. But you cannot go inside or up the pagoda. While being in the area, this pagoda is however a must to visit.

I covered this pagoda on my way, kind of aiming for the big one. But this place is a small gem. Nice Pagoda, interesting history around it as well. But there is also a small park where locals execise, fascinating. Short walk to Xi'an museum.

Free entry if you show your passport. Nice park surrounding the pagoda and short walk to xian museum. Be aware of the tourist rip offs with calligraphy pictures. Souvenirs cheaper elsewhere.
