The pagoda looks beautiful though it lost its tip top after th earthquake. The whole temple was peaceful with many local people exercising. They were quite friendly and if you'd like to exercise with them, you were most welcome by the whole group. Love this...More

Not much to see here but I imagine the gardens are lovely in the summer. There is a huge bell that you can pay 5 Yuan to ring. It's worth paying to have someone in your group ring it if you don't want to yourself....More

This pagoda is in a park which includes gardens, lake and the Xian museum. It has less (foreign) tourists there and is quieter than the big wild goose pagoda. This is also part of a buddhist temple site, but less restored and much more relaxing....More

We enjoyed walking around the pagoda and surrounding park. It is right next door to the Xi'an Museum so it was a nice way to spend an afternoon.

This is a beautiful spot with tranquil gardens and an old world feel. I rang the giant bell there which invoked a feeling of the past. There was a sculptor at work in the park making wonderful creations out of wood which were available to...More

This pagoda is one of many in Xian constructed during the Tang Dynasty. It is set in a very lovely park/garden setting, near the Xian Museum. The best approach is to enter the park from the North, stroll through the garden to the Pagoda, then...More

Best Shopping for local products? (3 Replies)
Hi - I have read about the shopping in the Muslim section and it sounds like a good market. Where else would you recommend for shopping? I also read about some shopping behind the Small Goose Pagoda - is it worth a trip there to shop? I have promised to bring home some local Chinese products and am not sure what to look for. Thanks

Visit Beijing and Xian - Need advices on itinerary (5 Replies)
In this coming mid June, I plan to visit Beijing and Xian. I have tickets to fly to Hong Kong and back to USA. We are a party of 4 (2 adults + 12 + 14 yrs old). I need to work on the rest of the booking? What we like? We like to check out major historical sites, like to eat, like to shop (but we are not big spenders), but we do not have to cover everything, just want to get a taste of the best. I plan to spend 7 days (6 nights) in China. I am open to local tours, but I think I can...More

jade b, welcome to the Beijing forum! I am wondering why you fly into HK when planning to visit China. Was there no option to fly to BJ or any other city in China mainland? If you have the ticket to HK already and book the ticket from HK to mainland China, you may have to clear immigration at HK airport to collect your luggage and to check in again. Afterwards again through immigration and another time in China. The plan you have is doable. Not too much time for BJ, but enough for...More

1.5 days more - Xian, nearby or elsewhere? (7 Replies)
Hi, I have 3.5 days for my upcoming 2nd trip to Xian soon. During my first trip in 2008, I covered Terracota Army, Qin Mausoleum, Shaanxi Museum, HuaShan, Drum Tower, Bell Tower (exterior), Muslim Quarter & some city walk along the cultural streets. My plan this time is to visit HanYangLing, Big & Small Goose Pagoda, cycling on city Wall, Grand Mosque (couldn't locate it previously), and Beilin Museum, which I guess will take about 2 full days. With 1.5 days more available, what are...More
