By chance bumped into this preserved academy at the Shuyuanmen area. Entry was free, just needed to register for the entry ticket with my passport at the souvenir shop on the right in front of the academy's gate. Ticket was handed to security person seated in a small office on the right side of the gate.

This was a well preserved ground with history tracing back to Ming Dynasty.

The academy is now occupied by agencies and no long an educational ground

However the ground was scarred by a smoker who threw the butt onto the ground, squashed it and walked off. The butt bin was just 5 steps away from where the butt was thrown.

Things did get preserved so did old habits.

You can't miss this, if you are in the Shuyuanmen Pedestrian Street. The entire neighborhood is tourist inviting, with shops for arts and painting accessories, gift shops and different restaurants and bars.

Originally a place for the study of Confucianism, this complex is now occupied by the provinces antiquities dept and as such is closed to the general public. The picture is the only view you can get of this, from the main gate.
