Buy ticket trains in China can be very difficult, so I decided to buy tickets with Travel China Guide. We were travelling Shanghai - Suzhou - Hangzhou. The service was perfect: for a small charge, you get the tickets in your hotel, and you just need to go to the station and take the train. No problem and a perfect service. People were extremely nice and solved all my doubts. Absolutely recomendable.

I don't do tour groups but on rare occasion. I am not a fan of tour groups because they tend to be more expensive than they are worth, but I will glad say that the money I paid for the Travel China Guide in Xi'an was outstanding.
A groups of 5 Americans were first picked up at the airport and brought to our hotel. Tracey talked to us about the history of Xi'an for most of the ride and it was fascinating. She told us so much wonderful information about all the Dynasties.
I have been picked up by tours and then just had the guides be lumps. She was engaging, and friendly her English was strong and it was a great way to start Xi'an. The driver was safe and wasn't too fast or too slow.
The next day we went to the Terracotta Warriors and Han Yang Ling Museum. The Terracotta Warriors is not to be missed, but having Tracey there made it so much better. She knows her history and presents it in a great way.
She brought us to a great lunch spot where we got a tea service and wonderful noodles and then to the Han Yang Ling Museum that most people miss.
Its a great counter point to the Terracotta Warriors. The pits have a glass walkway over them. You get to see many artifacts still in place from after the ceiling collapsed, but its a very different perspective. The artifacts are samplers, there are tunnels not pits, but Tracy was so helpful in explaining the area, and the tunnels.
Tracy and Travel Guide China has made me feel that not all tours are too much money. They have been great and can't wait to see them on Wednesday for the next day tour!
I have spent alot of time singing the praises of Tracy and her skills, but Angela, a faceless person on WeChat has been great in all of her help as well. She shouldn't be overlooked, or Lexi who helped me with the initial planning and pricing!

We recently used Travel China Guide to purchase tickets for the high speed trains in China. They were very efficient and communication was excellent. The ticket copies were emailed to us and then we arranged to have them all sent to our first hotel in Beijing. The service was excellent overall and I would recommend them to anyone wanting great service and efficiency.

Fantastic booking service. We tried to book online from NZ and it said the journey was full but the online girl got us on every train we needed and coordinated the whole trip.

Everything went well. Even though all the 2nd class tickets for my train got sold out, I got booked on the very next train to travel in first class. The price difference was small and I was allowed to pay it after the trip :)

We purchased bullet train tickets because the official website requires a properly working Alipay or WeChat pay plus a Chinese cell phone. We decided to pay the extra service fee (around $5) per ticket to guarantee our seats to Shanghai from Beijing. It was money well spent. We picked up the tickets the night before at the train station. No lines and just show ticket number. Very convenient and we got seats together.

Ivy was very friendly and capable of finding the best timed tickets with best value fares in a short time. We had a few complications but Ivy was never worried in any way. Very happy with this booking and will definitely use again.

This is an excellent company that provides high quality service.Based in Xian,China and a subsidiary of Marco Polo Travel,it is staffed by a highly efficient sales team.My program was organized by Angela Li.Very meticulous and highly responsive to queries she provided spectacular arrangements,including 5 star hotels,private home visits and very knowledgeable guides.She even provided gifts for the entire group in Xian.
I would highly recommend this company and Angela if you can get her.

I use Travelchinaguide website for booking high speed rail tickets. If you do not have a Chinese cell phone number, it can be difficult to book train tickets via WeChat or 12306 app. Travelchinaguide fills in the gap by allowing anyone with international credit cards to search and book train tickets, even more than 15-day ahead of time (reservation only open in 15 day window, but travelchinaguide takes care of it when the booking window opens). Photos of travel IDs (e.g., passports) are required. Once confirmed, ticket # and seat info is sent to email. One directly checks in with the ID used for booking. The process is easy. In the event that ticket is sold out, I received emails back that suggested for alternatives. Refund was also straightforward. I would highly recommend travelchinaguide for international visitors to China.

If you’re looking for a company to help you plan tours in China then look no further. From booking train/plane tickets to suggesting tours and visits, then TCG is a great choice. I rescheduled flights and changed my itinerary several times, and TCG were very helpful in making this a smooth process. Even out of office hours, help is on hand. Will use again!

Has anyone had any luck getting their refundable deposit back for a multiday tour? With the coronavirus we had to cancel, were within the guidelines for cancelling, and have been told it was coming for weeks now. Has anyone received their money back?

You can discover everything on your own by hoping from point to point by taxi. However, this is time consuming (waiting for taxi, preparation etc.), so I would recommend to book a Small Group Tour from TravelChinaGuide. This tour avoids tourist shops and also skips the ticketline, very comfortable. You'll be picked-up in your hotel, there will be max. 9 people in the small bus. The guide will show and explain you the most important things. If you like to see more details you can go back on your own next day.
Beside Terracotta Warriors this tour will take you to the City Wall and other interesting places in Xi'an. If wheather permits I recommend to visit the City Wall again next day and to rent a bike at the South Gate for 3 hours to surround the City Wall, a very pleasant experience.

No, we elected to do a private tour which a little more expensive than a group tour but it was well worth it. A private tour is more flexible and you can move at your own pace.
