About
Resembling an elephant drinking water from the Li River with its long trunk, this hill towers more than 55 meters above the water.

I went to the Elephant Trunk Hill with my family in April. It is in a beautiful park along the Li River. You can take many good photos here. If you climb the hill, you can also enjoy the view of the city. Highly recommended!

Elephant Trunk Hill is a major tourist attraction in downtown Guilin. The small hill, right at Li riverfront, has become a stop for nearly all tour groups in Guangxi. There is always a huge crowd at every part of the park and the view is not appealing at all. Although admission is free now, I would still go somewhere else.

Popped in with some time to kill in Guilin. The walk up the hill requires some effort when done in heat - there are some shady spots to rest and recover but be warned that many of the steps are irregular and slippery when wet so just be cautious with your footing.
It is a great view across the city and along the river from the top.
Be sure to head down to the "elephant's trunk" on the water front to see some interesting and well aged stone wall writings.
The gardens are well maintained and suitable for relaxing or hanging out with family/friends.

We had to kill half a day in Guilin so decided to visit the elephant trunk hill. The walk there in the morning was pleasant in the cold winter air. Crowded with tourists taking photos. There is a little hill within the park. Views from the peak was good, but climb up can be challenging for the young and the elderly. Would recommend if you have ample time to spare, but can skip if rushed for time.

While in Guilin, be sure to take a scenic cruise of Li River. Very very beautiful, with all the colors of China, and the smattering of camel back mountains. If you visit at night time, it is even more beautiful with all the lights and colors of China.

Should you have time left this is a nice way to spend it. The uphill walk is strenous but you will be rewarded with a great view of Guilin and the river.

It was a hot July afternoon with humidity about 90% so that may have had an impact on my experience, but I was not particularly impressed. There were some cute concrete elephants in the river, but otherwise it was the one hill and then tons of shops trying to get you to buy crap.

I was disappointed by Elephant Trunk Hill. It is not as large as I would expect and a number of the attractions on site were closed. We had a pleasant walk around it

Fantastic and breathtaking natural work of art however you may face annoying agents who would push tour packages etc on you and wouldn’t go away unless you can really convey the message strongly. Place is a bit more commercial than it needs to be. Rest is amazing and it’s a must visit place

Lots and lots of people all clamouring to get the same shot. The perfect elephant trunk view is actually quite difficult to achieve from land, maybe it's better from the rafts. But it's all super touristy and very far from serene. I wouldn't call the scenery stunning, I expected more from this visit. Also, there's an absolutely horrific stench in places - we thought it must come from the Rice Wine Museum.
