Bargain dinner, worth a visit
Aug 2020 • Couples
It’s sometimes hard to order the right amount of food in china. Invariably, one tends to get over excited and over order. But this Temple-run buffet is perfect for anyone wanting to sample lots of different dishes without breaking the bank — dinner cost us less than 60rmb for two people, including fruit and drinks, and it’s all vegetarian to boot!

Great for families
Jul 2020
It’s not fancy, but at 20-32rmb per person (depending on age), it’s absolutely great for lunch or dinner with a group of picky eaters/kids. We went for lunch once and dinner once and were very satisfied with the variety and quantity. They will want you to pay first, and you are asked to waste as little as possible (but eat all you want!).

Not just about the temple
Aug 2019
Very nice place. You first see the temple, with the candles lightning at the entrance. But at the end of the patio, the restaurant shows up. For 29 Yuan, you can get a full buffet of vegetarian options. We've been twice during our stay in Guilin, and some of the dishes were totally different from the first to the second day. Nice and friendly staff. Go early. Excellent value for the money.

What a pleasant surprise
Apr 2019 • Family
We just asked for a vegetarian option in any restaurant in the area, and she pointed us to the direction of the temple. With bit of a doubt we have decided to take a look.

It was a huge restaurant in the back of the temple with only vegetarian buffet food.
We thought we were not hungry enough for a buffet, but for 29 Yuan per person, even if we don’t eat much, would be ok.

We ended up eating more than expected.
The selection was great. It was not the best Chinese food ever, but even the experience to di what the locals do and explore dishes we would not order otherwise was great.

We were stared at and admired and at the end even asked for pictures to be taken with our children. Wich we did not mind in this location.

All in all, it is more that worth it, we had a lovely time, overfilled our tummies with good food and experienced local culture.

Did not visit the Nengren temple for sightseeing but for the delicious vegetarian buffet they have every night.
The food is perfection and it's only 28 yuan per person!
Even though the staff does not speak english they are super friendly and help you along on your first visit. I loved this place and can highly recommend it.
Buffet starts at 18.00

Nice vegetarian buffet restaurant
Oct 2016 • Family
We visited the temple for its vegetarian buffet dinner and it was OK, nothing too special. The place is very busy and probably need reservation .
There is wide selection of Vegetarian dishes, but we disappointed by the Dim Sum (Bao) selection, even though it was looking great and there was big selection , wasn't warm enough nor tasty as expected .
In summary, a nice very cheap vegetarian buffet, worth exploring but don't expect amazing food .

It's a vegetarian buffet; at 26¥ per person, it's super cheap and delicious. Staff are friendly and there's wifi. Try the mushroom shaped bun and the fried eggplant! Located just across the red bridge.

It's...a Buddhist temple!
Feb 2013 • Solo
If you've been to Thailand or other "religious" areas of China, Nengren REALLY won't impress you. If you haven't - go forth and explore! Monks amble about while incense and candles burn for prosperity and good luck on the eastern side of the temple, while Buddhist "accessories" aboudn in the shops out front. The real draw here, aside from the temple, is the classy vegetarian restaurant, located in the back and very reasonably priced. Not terribly worth a visit, unless you've been craving veggie jiaozi like I have.
