Pick a piece of Chinese History from Guilin

This was the old palace of one of the crown princes of the Qing dynasty. Very unique palace ground with a solo hill protruding in the middle of the palace.

Poorly preserved former palace of a prince

Not worth visiting, no old original buildings remain, very disappointing. Now part of the local university

Princes' City

stumbled onto this one...and what a rewarding find it turned out to be. we entered from one of the old city gates drawn by the imposing grey walls and the ancient looking palace. The palace is open to visitors but we decided to give it a miss to explore the old city beyond the palace walls which was beautifully conserved and gentrified. there were trendy cafes and restaurants, art and boutique shops set in quaint alleys. there was even a large underground mall.

I came here with the expectations of the height of a chair but came out with the height of a mountain.

The park itself was quite nice and the many buildings included many interactive displays and activities. It costs 100 RMB per person to enter (50 for under 6) and comes with a tour guide who will explain it in Mandarin along the way. This is very underrated and should be among the highest. The only downside would be the price as the ticket is very expensive but as Guilin's Non1 attraction, it sure is worth the price

Go inside the tunnel!
Dec 2017 • Business
There are interesting artworks inside and the night lights flash out something interesting as well. Do walk inside the tunnel.

A hefty guided tour. Guide spoke in Chinese which ignored other visitors. A mock exam in the imperial exam hall.

Perhaps worth a short visit especially if you do not include the park

The city is located within the city of Guilin. After you pass through the tunnel/gate depicted on the tripadvisor page, you actually are in the Jingjiang Whangcheng City - no entrance fee required. You'll have to pay a fee only enter the park called "The Solitary Beauty Peak". At 120 RMB per person the park is much too expensive for what it has to offer ... It is a nice, large and well kept park, whose main attraction (in my opinion) is its tall hill, from whose top you have a reasonably nice view of the city. Even this attraction is somehow diminished by the presence of two professional photographers who seem to have a monopoly on the top-of-the-hill location, and limit a visitor's ability to take photos. The park may also be more important if you are interested in Chiang Kai-shek, who has a nice statue there and a few places associated with his presence. Otherwise, it is just a nice but much too expensive park...

Just through the old City tunnel

As a tourist it is expensive to visit the site 110 RMB -despite what others have written about you do not get a discount if you are over 60 unless you are a Chinese national. Almost all of the exhibits are in Chinese with little or no English translation. The architecture is interesting as are some of the exhibit halls.

Nice to walk around but we stayed in the free rea , rather than paying the (stiff) entrance fee

The outside of this site is worth the visit (together with the antique rickshaws which are placed in an alcove to the right of this lion), but the entrance fee seemed stiff to us, so we stayed outside the inner area.

Ok to spend some time

This place is expensive to get in at 120rmb for what is effectively a big park. You can wander around amongst the many Chinese tour groups (no English audio guides or signs). Overall a bit expensive just to wander for an hour
