Thank you Sherry for a lovely and really informative food tour of Guilin. In this time of COVID-19, I was the only visitor on this tour since most of their clientele are from out of the country. I visited Guilin from Shanghai and because of my schedule, I couldn't do this tour until my second night in the city, however, in communicating with Sherry via WeChat ahead of time, she gave some recommendations for places to eat the first day and night before we met. The evening flew by as we moved from place to place and walked along the water and saw some different sites of Guilin. I got to eat some really unique local traditional foods that I never even read about or heard about (and I'm of Chinese descent!).

I visited during Dragon Boat Holiday and it is a day you traditionally eat zongzi (bamboo wrapped sticky rice) and so she even went to one of the best shops earlier in the day to bring some! Very personal service and attention to detail. We talked about food and she gave me great advice for other cities I plan to visit while I live in China. If you visit Guilin, please spend an evening with Sherry, you will not leave hungry!

Had a lovely first night in Guilin with Sherri on a food tour of all the local delights. I always try to do a tour when I travel to get a feel for the place and what's good to eat and where to go. Sherri took us on a fab walking tour through some lovely places stopping on the way at various spots. We had 10 dishes, from the local black noodles (delish - and have had them again) through to BBQ fish, oil tea (a minority speciality) and noodles. I am not going to spoil it by telling you everything, but Sherri was brilliant, knowledgeable, spoke great English (good for me!) and was friendly. Highly recommend this trip. Make sure you do it!!! :) Thanks Sherri, and don't forget if you are heading my way, give me a shout and I will return the favour as promised!!

On our trip, we did food tours in Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Guilin. This one had the most focus on the food. Just three hours filled with the joy of eating, what more could you want? It is certainly a must do, when in Guilin!

Sherry's wine tour was wonderful. Advertised as 3 hours from 6pm to 9pm and visiting 6 restaurants and food shops, we visited at least 8 and spent a very pleasant 4 hours with Sherry. There were 4 of us and Sherry's English was excellent. She had spent a few years in UK. She was very knowledgeable. The restaurants we visited included McFound, an ethnic tea house, a dumpling place, various desert places, a place that sold horse meat dumplings. We have been on many food tours and we would say it is difficult to think of a better one. We went to places that as a westerner you would not go because no English is spoken but the food was exquisite and a real venture into local cuisine. Very highly recommended!

The best way to get to know a new city is by way of food tours! Guilin Food Tours is top notch and one of the best we have been on in our travels. Our tour guide, Sherry, was excellent, knowledgeable, friendly and is a true ambassador for Guilin. We were able to experience many different types and styles of local cuisine that we lost count! Come hungry...there are lot of excellent dishes to taste! Luckily there is a fair amount of walking involved so that helped balance our fullness. I highly recommend going on the Guilin Food Tour your first or second night so you can go back and enjoy your favorite dishes again and again (Fern noodles & BBQ fish, so yummy!) Thank you for being a great host and showing us what great culinary delights Guilin has to offer!

I've been living in China since 2011 and Guilin /Yangshuo has been near the top of the list of cities I'd like to visit. Like all Chinese cities, each city has different local tastes and specialties and Guilin is no different. If you speak or can read Mandarin, there are local apps that advise of the different restaurants/snacks/specialties but if you don't then I would strongly recommend Guilin Food Tours.

For my food tour, Sherry was the guide and she was fantastic foodie/tour guide! The whole tour was exactly what you'd want in a food tour experience - run by locals, passionate about food and helping you find all the hidden spots of the city to eat like the locals do. The food range was excellent, priced very reasonably and afterwards I was very full!

I usually don't review but this tour in terms of money for value and enjoyment was the best food tour taken in China and I hope they can continue providing food tours to visitors traveling to Guilin.

Best wishes and thank you again for the tasty experience

Our tour guide Sherry was amazing. She gave us a run down on all the food we were eating, where it originated and how it was made. Not only that but she gave us many more suggestions on different foods or restaurants to try before we leave Guilin.
I would say that this is something you do not want to miss!!

If you love to eat (and I know I do), then this is a must-do to add to your list for Guilin! I had done some research into things to do there, and when this appeared, I knew I wanted to do it. I had some issues booking through the website, but called with the phone number that I found here and on Facebook the day I wanted to book. We talked to Wendy who confirmed the tour, which was led by Sherry. We were also asked in the beginning if there were specific foods we couldn't eat due to allergies so we could avoid them. It wound up being a private tour since we were the only ones who booked, which was perfectly fine with us and Sherry was very helpful and accommodating with the foods we couldn't eat.

The tour is well-organized, walking through the city center and stopping at various locations to try the local food. We really loved the salad wontons, the oil tea with green tea pancake from the Yao minority, and the barbecued fish. In addition to that, we also ate turtle jelly, the Guilin rice noodles, hawthorn berries, rice rolls, fern noodles, and got some plum juice. By the end, we were so stuffed we could barely move, and we didn't even finish everything. It might've been because it was fairly hot that we didn't eat everything, but it was good to know in one shop that anything not finished was collected and given to the homeless.

Sherry was very knowledgable not just about the local food, but also the history of the city and the surrounding area. It was great doing this when we first got to Guilin because she gave us a lot of advice and tips about what to do (and of course, eat) in the city and also in Yangshuo. She was even so kind to forward me some must-haves to bring back from vacation, naming specific products that I should buy and pointing out where I could buy them. She is also very enthusiastic and passionate about her hometown, which made the tour really personal.

This is perfect for foreigners who don't speak Mandarin and want to really eat authentic Guilin cuisine. Because I speak some basic Chinese, Sherry was also kind enough to write down the Chinese names for all the foods we ate so I could find them again when not on the tour. Even if you do speak Mandarin, if you want to find some good, local cuisine, this is better than just checking out Dianping (the Chinese Yelp!). The Guilin Food Tour is really hanging out with a local and getting a feel for the place and getting to know it through its stomach. This was certainly one of our personal highlights in Guilin and would definitely do it again with different foods!

Went on this tour on a Tuesday night and had a great time. Sherry was my guide and was wonderfully friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. She knows all the good spots for authentic Guilin cuisine and will take you to places you'd never be able to find on your own. It's basically like having a local friend who can show you around while you're new in town.

If you'll be spending a few days in Guilin, I'd strongly recommend not just doing this tour, but doing it early in your stay so you know where to eat the rest of the time!

We really enjoyed our food tour with Sherry. She introduced us to some delicious local foods, walked with us around the local area and answered all our questions - about food and other topics. We have never had better wontons before!
