Huge park, with beautiful gardens & lake
Nov 2020
Great for families, singles, and people of all ages. It is a nice place for walks, jogging, paddle boat ride, cycling, viewing the well-kept gardens, visiting the museums located onsite (although a bit of a hike from the main entrances, and much more.

Quite large park but not too beautiful and attractive in my opinion.

Lots of stairs to go to the five rams statue, symbol of Guangzhou

Massive, beautiful, oxygen-rich park
Jan 2020
There are many walkways, lakes, play areas, trees, flowers, other greenery, fish, and more in this massive park. The terrain is hilly and thus not suitable for all to walk. There are inexpensive rides available, for round and one-way trip to entrance/exit gates. It is a short walk from the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel. Also easy to get to by subway.

With a Finale at Congee Town
Nov 2019
We were walked in YueXie Park just a few weeks ago and visited the Monument for Dr. Sun Yat-sen (TA reviewed), not too far away is the GuangZhou Museum (TA reviewed) which, like most museums in GZ, is closed on Mondays.

For some unfathomable reason SWMBO wanted to see (again) the statue of the Five Rams. YueXiu Park is just a short bus ride away from our humble abode in the KeZiling District of Guanghou so no problem and we were soon walking through the West Gate of the park. We turned right and headed up the hill towards the statue. I say headed up the hill but in fact we avoided the road and took the scenic route which involved many steps and steep climbs and took us through parts of the park to which we’d never ventured.

Eventually we reached the statue and after a few minutes and photos SWMBO was ready to head off towards the north gate and the quaintly but appropriately named Congee Town restaurant.

We walked up the hill and passed between the football stadium (TA reviewed) and the GuangZhou Museum and then down the hill past the old fortress wall and police station. We headed north (easy to do by keeping the TV tower on your right) stopping just before the basketball courts to feed a few cat biscuits to a mum cat. Then we swung left towards the bowling green to say hello to the bowling green cat. His leg has got better as he strolled to the stop the steps to greet us. He wasn’t hungry but enjoyed a little stroke and attention.

Then it was down the steps to aforementioned Congee Town Restaurant (Zhou Cheng Fan Dian to the locals). It isn’t easy to find but there’s a small entrance on the right at the bottom of the steps.

Note the main entrance to Zhou Cheng Fan Dian is on Huanshi Middle Road. It’s open 24/7 and every taxi driver will know it.

I can’t find this restaurant on TA but is well worth a visit. We’re never disappointed. It’s a huge place and the food is excellent. The menu has English translations and many photographs, so much so that it is far too large for me to purloin a copy. It’s generally Cantonese food and there’s something for everyone.

Last night SWMBO and I pushed the boat out with pork balls with tofu in soup (on special offer), sweet and sour prawn balls, roast aubergine (eggplant for American readers), and fried vermicelli noodles with shrimps. Of course, there was the usual tea, bottle of beer and a bowl of rice. The total bill was ¥189.

SWMBO usually indulges in a bowl of rice porridge (congee or zhou), there’s a large selection and this is what the restaurant is famous for.

On the way out we ogled the fish in the tanks patiently waiting for a diner. I’m sure some are endangered species and I felt especially sorry for the biggish turtle. Eating that poor old thing, must be like eating your grandfather.

Suitable replete we staggered to the main door and quickly caught a taxi back home. As usual our menagerie of one cat, five fish and three turtles were waiting for their dinner.

Nice place to spend few hours of free time
Oct 2019
Still very hot midday in October too.
I had some places of the park predefined, like the old GZ wall, the ancestors square, the 5 ram statue (it is said that brings you luck to see it, so go there at least once while in GZ).
Enjoy!

Nicely laid out

Lots of distinct areas to enjoy

But it's not flat by any stretch. Lot of hills to climb of you want to see everything

Largest park in Guangzhou. It is LARGE!
Aug 2019
We enjoyed our leisurely walk through half of the park. Basically we walked to see the statue of the five rams, and took the shuttle to an exit. Lots of tress, some flowers, nice ponds, lots of Koi, and much more. The park has a lot of rolling hills. Thus it takes a little energy to walk it.

I've been here before and wanted to take a friend visiting Gz for a nice walk to explore the outdoor while the weather is still nice. Not bad I must say.
