番禺蓮花山高球會The Lotus Hill Golf Club at PanYu in China Is extremely unsafe
Apr 2019 • Family
番禺蓮花山高球會The Lotus Hill Golf Club at PanYu in China just simply unsafe:
1. They didn’t pick up members , no shuttle bus provide, even they have made a reservation
As the AGM, Gary, he represented the club and claimed that even if the members make a reservation, they don’t necessarily have to provide the pick-up service.
Gary basically responded to members’ complaints about his ill management style by shirking responsibility, and made a lot of excuses.

2. Their front door carpet is wet and slippery, they did Not keep it dry and put a sign , it cause member to slip, fell and injured quite seriously.

3. No staff or medication or first aid service provided  to member after the injury. There was no help, no medical treatment, no one even attempted to check on the injured person cause by their slippery floor.

4. Poor Room utilities, the water volume from the tub was so small, and the cold and hot water was basically either extremely cold/ hot, very unstable and uncontrollable.

5. INSURANCE, In no part of the conversations with Gary had he mentioned about the venue insurance that had the resort/ golf course covered.

Great golf course
Nov 2016
Rented a membership here for 3 years. Great golf course and resort. Never have stayed there so do not know how the resort is. But the locker room is adequate but was being updated when I left. Really enjoyed the golf there. Nice course layout.

Interesting but helpless caddies
Jun 2016 • Couples
Course is OK but my caddy was the worst I have ever seen. Not able to clearly make difference between yards and meters. Slowing down the game not being ready on time. Club advices wrong, general advices not fitting my game. Really disappointing knowing that having a caddy is mandatory. Absolutely no added value.

A great walking course with lots of water hazards

I always have a great time with this course. The holes are challenging mostly and there are some holes which you can really score well. Facilities of this golf course is very well kept and in good shape. You will not be disappointed with your round and your after round meal for sure. If you do spend the weekend there, you should try out those restaurants in Panyu downtown. There are a lot of choices. Give it a try!

My wife and I rented memberships here for one year about ten years ago, when we played here almost every weekend. We don't golf often now, but our preference when we do is for well-treed, low-key courses with less traffic rather than large cutting-edge resorts.
We revisited Lotus Hill on a two-round, one-night package through Golf007. We golfed Thursday afternoon and Friday early morning. Aside from passing one group on Friday, we rarely saw other players. Bliss! Our caddies told us, however, that this was partly because greens eight and nine and the large rock backing the signature par three seventeenth were being redone. (Golf007 hadn't mentioned the temporary greens to us when we booked, but it didn't bother us too much.)
The course was in fine shape otherwise. (One of the hotel staff mentioned that all the greens are to be redone, with some changes to the layout. Since this course uniquely has six par fives and six par threes, perhaps they are thinking of changing to the standard configuration by converting some holes into par fours? We love the existing setup, so we hope they don't change too much.)
The caddies on both days were young girls. The ones on the first day were a bit lazy and one of them a bit bossy and rushed, but overall they were acceptable (they thankfully have pull carts now, and don't have to carry the bags). On the second day, one caddy was very good and the other excellent. The latter, unlike the other caddies, gave us her caddy tag so that we could rate her performance. The attitudes and quality of the caddies varies at Lotus Hill.
The hotel room was as nice as ten years ago, but some other things have slipped. The food used to be excellent. It is now good. The pool used to be well kept. It is now neglected, although can be used. Those new to the course won't realize that the row of large houses along the twelfth fairway used to be forest, that a couple ponds are missing their lovely lotus flowers, or that a couple fairways seem to be short a few attractive trees.
The clientele used to by mainly Hong Kongers coming up for weekends and staying in the hotel or in their holiday homes, and using the facilities a bit more -- though the restaurant and pool were never busy. Now most golfers are mainlanders living in cities nearby. They don't use the facilities much. Our masseuses at the club mentioned that most sides of the business beyond the fairways have dropped off considerably even on weekends.
Overall, though, if you want a low-key, relaxing outing, Lotus Hill is a good option. Just remember to inquire about which holes are being worked on, if any, before you book.

Interesting and challenging course
Jul 2011
Excellent golfing venue in Lianhuashan, a relatively unspoilt part of Panyu District. Impressive Clubhouse with hotel rooms, sited atop a hill. Well-managed course with fully-matured trees lining the immaculate fairways and greens. No Buggies -- players allowed to Walk only and each must have a Caddy. Very interesting layout to play and somewhat challenging to high handicappers. (Only two of the 18 Holes have no water hazards to contend with.) Signature Hole #17 is a gem, comprising water in front, a rock face behind -- picturesque and instantly recognizable as the symbol of the Golf Resort. Ferries (5 or 6 per day) ply to and from the China HK City Terminal in Kowloon, starting at nearby Lianhuashan Port. Trip takes about 90 minutes, with a stopover at Nansha Port.
