After exiting from Tiyu West station on Line 1. this Festival Mall is straight ahead at exit E. It is one of the easiest underground mall to navigate as it consists of two rows of shops.

Lots of shops selling inexpensive goods

Tianhe Festival Walk is especially crowded on weekends and after about 4:00 pm. Seems to be mostly a younger crowd who gather here after school and work. Most goods sold are at best, average quality.

Shopping in the tunnels
Feb 2019 • Business
This underground city of primarily small shops caters to the everyday public and likely to impulsive shoppers. It likely is not a destination shopper’s paradise, but one where people stop on their way from or to the Metro. Most items sold and the fast food eateries are basic.

Mostly everyday inexpensive items sold
Jan 2019 • Solo
This is a mall in a tunnel system which connects to buildings, a large grocery store selling high quality foods, TeeMall, the Metro/Subway system and more. It is packed with small shops, street-food type eateries, On most trips to Guangzhou, I buy something in this mall. Over the past two days, I shopped at two of its shops and purchased items, Although the prices for most goods are low at most of the shops, the life expectancy of ,any of the items is also lower than similar, but often higher quality goods sold at TeeMall.

Lots of clothes and shoes
Dec 2017 • Friends
I was staying at the Sheraton for a meeting and stopped by the Tianhe Festival Walk to shop for presents for my family and coworkers. It’s an interesting place to visit and was quite easy to access from in front of the hotel. 90% of the stores weren’t all that interesting for me as they were clothes, shoes, and watches. If that’s what you’re shopping for, you’ll find no end of options. We ended up in a vast store with everything imaginable that turned out to also be the bottom floor of the TeeMall. It includes a full grocery store, pharmacy, and home goods. If you’re staying nearby and want a safe destination to do some shopping, this one is very easy to access.

Great Underground Shopping Mall . . . with something for everyone
Sep 2017 • Solo
Tianhe Festival Walk is similar to below ground level mall-tunnel systems connecting buildings in many cities. A slight difference for this mall is its size and the vast number of small shops and eateries. I generally enter the mall network of shops as I exit the Metro/subway, going to/from Sheraton Guangzhou Hotel, or as I leave TeeMall or a local area restaurant for the Metro/subway.

The overall quality and price levels are lower than those at TeeMall, but often the functionality is the same. At TeeMall you are getting mainly 4 and 5-star quality goods. In the underground market, you are getting 1 to 3-star goods. I often see people making purchases. There appears to be 10% to 50% sales going on almost continually.

I especially like the high-quality foods available in the large grocery store.

In your travels, and not necessarily specific to Tianhe Festival Walk, watch out for counterfeit money and thieves. One of my friends has had two wallets stolen in China. . . . Five tips:

1. Some taxi drivers give counterfeit money. A common trick used by some, is when you give them a 100 rmb note, they will switch it for a counterfeit one, and give it to you saying you gave them a counterfeit bill. This has happened to me twice. Nowadays, I take photos of my 100 rmb bills, and if they give me a bill back saying it is counterfeit, then I would check the serial number to the photos on my mobile phone.

2. I use a mobile phone case which allows a string or shoelace type rope to be tied to it. Then I tie to a belt loop or a special loop I have sewn into the bottom of a pant pocket. On some clothing, I increase security, by putting valuables in a hidden or more secure pocket.

3. Don’t take all your valuables with you. I only take about 50% of my credit and debit cards with me when travelling or otherwise moving around in an unfamiliar or high crime area. I sometimes spread them around in secure pockets or keep them in a waist or ankle money belt. I was once robbed at knifepoint in Brazil. The thief searched for a waist money belt, but did not check for the one slightly above my ankle. In any event, always let them steal at least $20 of cash or goods, or they might do you greater harm out of anger.

4. Keep some of your valuables lock in a suitcase in the hotel room, or its in-room safe. Generally, these will have a lower life expectancy.

5. Be aware of your surroundings. Having been to over 100 countries, I’ve been in some high crime areas. On three occasions, I noticed that I was being followed. Twice I just went to a safe area and looked directly at the vandals to let them know I knew what they were up to. In the third case, I realized it just moments before a hand was about to go into my pocket. As the hand went in, I squeezed on the pocket. He got nothing, and the three of them ran off.

Fantastic Mall
Jul 2017 • Friends
The shopping mall, which targets low-end to mid range customers, is situated next to the metro station of Tiyu Xilu. I got two bags with simple design for grocery shopping which only costs RMB28 each. If you love shopping, it could be a much better shopping paradise compared to places such as Bangkok and Hong Kong. Well, this is only my personal opinion in case you don't agree with me. There are some food stalls but it is recommended to walk to the next shopping mall, Tee Mall, for dining.

Huge underground mall near TeeMall
Apr 2017 • Friends
We found the entrance down to the Festival Walk after coming out of the TeeMall.
It is a really big underground mall and it is abundant with small shops and stalls selling everything you can think of. There were some good clothing deals here. There are many food options from take away street food to small and medium sized restaurants.
The smells and aromas from fresh baked goods to sizzling meats and other things fill the air. The mall is clean and recommend you check it out.
When we left the mall however, it was pouring with rain and of course no taxis available. Since we didn't know where we were and which entrance we had come out of, we were lost for about an hour. I recommend you know direction in and out before you leave the mall.
