This is a vast urban park in Guangzhou's historic Liwan district. Liwan Lake Park offers a serene lake as well as some lush area elusive in the city. A stroll around the park is relaxing and peaceful.

Nice lake within the city. Lots of the visitors were with young children, some with parents and others grandparents. Some of the structures were, such as passageways, gates, walls, buildings, etc., are built to ancient designs.

Visit to the Liwan Lake Park was quite a nice experience. The weather was just perfect and I'm glad that we did not find too many people around either.

The park is situated near a busy road but the internal was green and tranquil. There were groups of locals dancing and doing exercises. Beautiful trees lined the side of the lake and there are plenty of places to sit and rest. Good place for some fresh air and relax.

This is a very nice park area woven among canals and small lakes with nice trees, and walk ways to wander through.

There are a series restored canals that lead you there so the trek in can be fun. Walkable from Shamian in about 30-40 minutes.

There is a large restaurant complex attached which has its own entrance and is set on some if ponds of the park. Y
ou will need to back track out of there to get into the park itself.

They have small boats to hire either pedal power or electric. The electric ones cost 100 for 30 minutes (+100 refundable deposit) which enough to do a couple of laps of the connected small lakes and kids will enjoy this activity.

There are lovely large Banyan Trees and pavillions in the park where you can sit and relax.

From there you can walk about 15 minutes across the to the Liwan Antique area or Jade Markets which are worthwhile.

This park is part of Lychee Bay. There's a review for Lychee Bay Scenic Area. It's actually a lot of small parks, temples and gardens rolled into one. You can walk for hours.
Go during the week to see the elderly Chinese enjoying themselves. There are a lot of old comrades living in what was the site of the first women's and children's hospitals in GuangZhou.
Be aware that the're a cool, I never use the word cold about GZ's weather, breeze off the lake.

On Some days museum is free, but if you are a tourist and visiting, the museum includes viewing of local living quarters and ticket includes a history of that area, with interesting information.

If you prefer just to walk around the canals, thats fine too... Nice place (except avoid during June, July, August, as it is at its hottest).

You see locals singing in a choir, locals dancing, taichi, chess, and kicking shuttlecock, or just sitting around. at 2pm there is a free performance of traditional opera live. Pretty interesting if it is your first time in China. It is a dying trade, and the younger generation dont really take up this art, therefore, cherish it when you get the chance! :D

My favourite is watching the local choir sing by the river, full of passion, and harmonious. They sing around 10-11.30am if I am not wrong, that is the time i saw that on both occassions i was there.

Very popular for both locals and tourists. A lot of restaurants for all budgets. Inside park is very well maintained. Can see the park in one hour if you are rush but can easily spend whole daytime as there are lot of seating for picnic or lots of venders and restaurants inside and right outside the park. There are many entrances so be careful if you meet someone on the spot. This is highly recommended!
