It's a big park and lots of stairs especially if you want to see the five rams statue.

You may come here if this is your first time. But not too attracted for those who already see this park

Great Park in the heart of the city
Aug 2020
Great park. Plenty of good paths to get some good exercise. Its fun to climb all those stairs and get to the Goat statue. There is an amazing looking swimming pool. Near a subway station.

Worth Visiting
Jan 2020 • Couples
Yuexiu Mountain is well worth the trip as it has the five rams sculpture and the original Canton Tower! The tower has been converted into the Guangzhou Museum which is our favourite museum so far and provides great history lessons of the development of the area with less of a focus on ceramic pillows like other museums. The park is very walkable and includes a nice pond, Sun Yat-Sen Monument, ancient city walls and a view of the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.

Another New Year, Another Review
Jan 2020
Note: YueXiu Mountain is inside YueXue Park, in reality it’s the same place.

When SWMBO and I were in YueXiu Park (TA reviewed) last November the New Year illuminations were already being installed. SWMBO made a mental note to visit them, and this is what we did yesterday evening.

We took the #124 bus and got off at YueXiu Park Metro station, crossed under the road and along with hundreds of others jostled our way towards the entrance. A ticket for SWMBO was ¥30, I waved my passport and being sufficiently ancient and therefore impecunious was admitted for free.

We joined the throng and made our way along familiar paths that every few metres had an illuminated tableau. This year’s theme was music and learning. There’s plenty of snack stalls for those feeling peckish.

It took us a good two hours to shuffle our way around including selfie time which included waiting for family groups to move on so SWMBO could bag the prime spot. Taking selfies is now a Chinese national pastime. My hand-held Bluetooth selfie-stick seems so mundane compared with those that double as a monopod and even a tripod. SWMBO won’t entertain the idea of a self-stick, she’s a traditional hand holder.

No CongGee Town restaurant dinner tonight as we’d indulged in a very tasty jiaozi, noodle and dumpling lunch, so it was back to our humble abode on the #124 bus.

I’m sure we’ll also visit YunTai Garden (TA reviewed) in the New Year and Lantern Festival holiday to admire its illuminations.

A hill
Oct 2019 • Couples
The problem with maps of a place, tourist maps especially, is that they are only 2 dimensional. They rarely show you the actual lay of the land

The hill up to the 5 Rams statue is more of a climb than you might think, especially when it's 90+ degrees and 80%humidity

Fortunately the are electric golf buggies that will take the strain for you for a modest fee

Statue of 5 Auspicious Rams
Sep 2019
It is quite a nice park but can be a steep walk for some but still manageable for an average person. The main highlight is the huge statue of the 5 Rams at the top.

Statue of the five rams/goats
Aug 2019
The stories around the five rams (or are they goats) is fascinating. The are regarded as saviors of the city. It is a a bit of an uphill walk to get to the upper level where the statue is located. I suggest taking the shuttle one way, and enjoying the leisurely sightseeing on the other trip.

Great park amongst the bustling city
Jul 2019 • Solo
This park offers a quick getaway from the bustling city that surrounds it. What also makes it an attractive destination is the fact that in the park are monuments which you can visit. Although, some monuments require you to climb lots of stairs so come prepared.
