My husband and I did a self tour of the Crater while we were living in Jeddah. You can walk down into the centre of it. So immense to think that a meteorite could make such an impact. it would have been pretty awesome to have seen it happen.

This crater is 210 KMs away from the Taif. Crater is 2km in diameter and 250 meter deep. There is salt accumulation on the surface of centre of crater. View is very beautiful and breath taking. You can go by car to the crater up to the edge. We didn't go in the crater. There are huts made around the... More

A fascinating location surrounded by lava fields. The size of the crater is a unique experience, so bring your camera. Not much else is around this area, so bring water and food with you.

Its off the main route, google maps easily takes you there. It takes not more than 3 hours from Madinah and not more than 4 hours from Jeddah on your own car to reach here. Seems a desolated place. If some work is put to it in making it a tourism friendly attraction by the authorities I am sure it will... More

Volcano crater with an old love story about the mountain Makla Tamyah who felt in love to another mountain close to Jezan. And believing in 'love & believe could move mountains' so he left to his love and left us a big hole :-)

This place is miles away from main roads, and the maps on sale don't show the roads around it. However, follow Google Maps and you will see that there is a good road from the Riyadh-Mecca road, all the way to Medina. The scenery is stunning, all the better for no tourists around. There are now some street lights for... More

Recently camped in a nearby sight with a regional tour operation called Nomad Arabia. It's a awesome sight to see and even better to hike down and hike back up. Go as early as possible in the morning to descend. Be prepared by hydrating well before you even begin the trip to this place and maintain good hydration the night... More
