Jannat al-Baqīʿ (Arabic: ٱلْبَقِيْع, "The Baqi'") is the oldest and the first Islamic cemetery of Medina[1] in the Hejazi[2] region of present-day Saudi Arabia. It is located to the southeast of the Prophet's Mosque, which contains the graves of some of the Islamic prophet Muhammad's family and friends. It is also known as Baqīʿ al-Gharqad (Arabic: بَقِيْع الْغَرْقَد, meaning "Baqiʿ of the Boxthorn").[1]
The grounds hold much significance for Muslims, being the resting place of many of Muhammad's relatives and companions, thus marking it as one of the two holiest cemeteries in Islamic tradition. Many narrations relate Muhammad issuing a prayer every time he passed it।

Surrounded by distinctive high walls on the eastern side of Prophet's Mosque.
During normal times people can be seen flocking the viewing platform just for a peep over the grill and saying some prayers but due to Covid 19 pandemic no entry to the viewing platform allowed. Or at least that's what happened to us few times we tried during the National Day long weekend.

Its open for men after fajar salah and between Asar and Maghrib. and for women, they can see through the fence on the other side.
All the information and the family Tree of Prophet Mohammed saw is displayed all the time near the stairs that lead to the Jannat ul Baki.

All visitors coming to Madina Munawra visit Janat Ul Baqi. This graveyard is unique because it is Lat resting place of family members of the Prophet including Hazrat Fatima Razi Allah unha. The prophet's wives are also buried here. Hazrat Usman 's last resting place is also here. Many of Shuhda are also buried here. At present all visitors expiring here in Madina Munawra are buried here.
This graveyard is important because a Hadis of the prophet says that the prophet said that on The Day of Judgement He will lead the Baqi persons ahead of rest of the umat. Also the prophet will bless these persons with his Shifat.
At present since there is a great rush of visitors the best time to visit Baqi is soon after Fajar prayer or Asar prayer.
In early years there were tombs on these graves specially Hazrat Fatima and Hazrat Usman. But now only graves are saved and small areas of cemented stones surround them.
The emotions at visit of Janat Ul Baqi one has can not be described and one envies the lucky persons buried here.

This cemetary is next to Masjidul Nabawi and many family members and companions of the Prophet [pbuh] are buried here. Females are not allowed to enter. A friend of mine, aware that we were embarking on umrah, asked that I make special dua for her dad who is buried here and feed the pigeons in his memory, something that he loved doing. One of the striking features of this burial site is how simple the graves are with no elaborate headstones or markings.

It is reported that about 10000 companions of the Prophet are buried here. The graves have no names, and identifying the graves are purely based on old books written during Ottoman empire, calculations and some guesses. Women cannot visit Jannatul Baqi. However, they can take a peak from the side, behind the grill (where most women were looking from).
Jannatul Baqi is right next to Masjid al-Nabawi. I do not remember the exact gate number of Masjid al-Nabawi infront of Jannat ul Baqi, but gate number 29 is close to it.

I don't think they can enter the graveyard. But from the outside they can say Fatiha. Normally I have seen women standing outside the Jannat'ul'baqi wall which is on the road side and saying Fatiha there.

Yes, after Fajur and Asar Prayer I guess
Women have as equal right to visit rasul Allah sallalla hu alyhe wa alyhe wa barik wasalm,as men have .
Because women are also ummati of rasul e Akram sallalla hu alyhe wa alyhe wa barik wasalm,
It's not just a grave , as rasul Allah sallalla hu alyhe wasalm him self declared, who ever visited my grave is like he visited me when I was alive, and come n see me as i will seek forgiveness for u .

They do it from Women's side. There is some portion of Hujra of Prophet PBUH which is left on women side. After Isha till night I think 1am and one more time I don't remember, they do Ziarah of Prophet's PBUH Hujra and Grave.
My wife' and my daughters normally did it late at night at 01 am
I hope this will help you. Its gate 28 I guess

Is there any way a woman can visit jannatul baqi? Or view it from a distance?

Women can not enter the graveyard but may able see from the gate.
Why are women not allowed in Jannatul Baqi?
Who ever wrote that women are not allowed to visit graveyards are completely misguided and following a Wahhabist mentality. It is the extreme ideology of the Saudi Wahhabist government who have prohibited women from doing such things. And how can you assume that women will be inappropriately dressed? That’s like assuming all men (like yourself) won’t be practising modesty like lowering your gaze. Don’t presume to know what Allah The Almighty has said. That’s very dangerous.
