Must see
Only mosque of this kind.
2 x qiblas
Imagine when Prophet PBUH was leading prayers and Was told to change his qibla. Mind you both are almost 180' opposite. Imagine the surprise of the Sahaba performing Salat when the Imam PBUH turns and faces in opposite direction. But did any one falter? Did anyone question? Such was their faith that all turned and shifted their Sajud towards khana kaba. The revelation was made after the prayers.
Armed with this thought do visit and say Nawafal.
May HE accept our prayers.

Unfortunately due to Covid, the mosque is closed outside of prayer times. Disappointing to say the least.
So the kids fed pigeons while we browsed goods at an Al Munawara kiosk and a dates vendor outside the mosque.

The Qiblatain Mosque is among the three earliest mosques in Islam's history, along with Quba Mosque and Al-Masjid al-Nabawi.
This mosque is historically important for Muslims as the place where the Prophet Muhammad, commanded to change the direction of the qibla from Jerusalem to Makkah. Thus this mosque is forever associated with a defining moment in Islam. From this time onward, it became the custom for all followers of Islam to face in the direction of Makkah during their prayers.
The mosque has became known as the mosque of Two Qiblas, or Masjid al-Qiblatain, as it has uniquely incorporated a prayer section in the direction of Mecca as well as one in the direction of Jerusalem.

This is such a historical mosque to visit and with most Islamic history evokes such inner emotion. It's hard to visit anywhere but the Prophet's mosque but if you can pull yourself away, definately worth visiting.

The Qiblatain Mosque (Mosque of the two Qiblas) in Madina is among the three earliest mosques in Islam’s history, along with Quba Mosque and Masjid Nabawi. When Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) migrated to Madinah, he prayed towards Jerusalem for 16 months, but he hoped it would be changed to the Kaaba. It is historically important for Muslims as the place where the Prophet Muhammad PBUH), leading the prayer, is said to have been commanded in Rajab 2 AH to change the direction of prayer (qibla) from Masjid Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem to Holy Kaaba in Makkah. Thus it uniquely contained two prayer niches (mihrabs). Recently the mosque was renovated, removing the old prayer niche facing Jerusalem and leaving the one facing Makkah. As advised and practiced by Muslims we offered two Rak'ahs prayer at time of our visit to this Masjid.

This is the mosque where the original direction to pray was and then the direction where many muslims now pray. Gorgeous mosque with wonderful architecture and if you do Umrah/Hajj this mosque is usually part of the ziayarat anyway

In the times before the revelation to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that one must face the Holy Mosque or the Kaabah in Mecca while performing the salaah, people used to face the Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. After the revelation to the Prophet (PBUH), this was the first mosque where devotees changed the direction to face while praying. Hence this mosque has two qiblahs. This attraction is worth visiting while in Medina, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Architecturally, too, the mosque is nice and has good carvings and minarets.

I am sure that visitors would love to see a written story about the mosque in different languages as well as aside exhibition to show the old pictures available. It is very important to start and keep historical information around.
