Impressive as the whole memorial
Apr 2021
The Heroes square stands just after the stairway with terrific huge heroes relief. It's a big square with a reflecting pool in the middle and larger than life monuments around it depicting Russians fighting the Nazis. On the walls there're also some Soviet propaganda paroles, as well the ideological leaders.
It's another feature of this impressive memorial.
From here you can take best pics with Motherland statue reflected in the pool.

Grand Square

It’s a grand square depicting the Soviet victory. You can see all the statues from here. The grounds are well kept and it’s free of charge.

The triumph of victory
Jun 2018 • Friends
walking up to the eternal flame, after the pool of tears you come across this relief. All the Soviet solders look young, and fit and healthy and happy and the German's look middle aged and pathetic.

Its triumphalist propaganda in its finest form - and in away for me unnecessary as the hill says so much more than this.

Beautiful like the whole place

Beautiful like the whole place (apart from political connotations). It is about Communism and it's presence in the History of the city and country. Good for a walk and here you find the entrance to one of the memorials (where the torch is).
It is easy to reach the entire site (including Mamaev) with the trolley that goes from one side of the town to the other. It is very cheap - a 0.20 coin - and you pay in the station or directly to the lady that rides inside every one of them. Make sure you always get the ticket.

Those engravings, as you climb the steps on the way to the "Motherland Calls", are making your experience a complete wonder of the russian nation.

Holy Glory
Jun 2015 • Couples
Engravings of Lenin and people on entrance wall, and says - Long live Lenin's communist party.
Famous Forever Torch Fire is inside. People prepare flowers and put them in front of it. Soldiers' name and rank are listed on the wall. Honourable medals are on the ceiling. There it's written, "Yes, we are ordinary and are not many of us survived. But, we did our duties for our motherland."
Two soldier's are standing without moving, another soldier comes and wipes sweat on their faces from time to time. We could see their change ceremony.
It's not for Lenin or Stalin, but for motherland Russia.
Walk along the passage inside of wall, then exit to the way to 'Motherland calls you!' statue.
